Diddy completely irritated me, and that whole Biggie thing I felt was more about Diddy than about Biggie. Whose bad idea was it to give R Kelly all that air time? The weirdo dancing bits, I would rather have had more actual live performances. But Mariah and Coldplay and Kelly Clarkson were all good, as were The Killers. Jeez, there weren't even cool Pepsi ads this year. I mean, sumo wrestling rotisserie chickens? Thank goodness I had [livejournal.com profile] aegeus on YM to share the pain.

I know you liked Brothers Grimm, [livejournal.com profile] mahoni, but I can't say the same. I can say honestly that I didn't have any expectations. I haven't seen all the Gilliam films but I liked the ones I have seen. It wasn't that Grimm wasn't as good as his other films. It was much more that there was enough plot for a six hour film. It seemed unfinished, rushed, like there were little sideplots that led to no place. Way too many things going on, so many that the film lacked coherence. I thought the characters were fun, and I could sort of vaguely see what they were trying to do, but unfortunately it didn't come across. There was simply too much stuff going on to be able to tease out what was important and what wasn't.

Classes start tomorrow. My first class is Tuesday. I am like, completely nervous. However, the reorg of my apartment is finally complete; I put together my new bookcase today, and yesterday I moved my old one. And while putting together that bookcase I watched the last episodes of CSI season 4, so that orgy is over, which I sort of can't believe. It's like, yeah, break's over, new life beginning. I won't be liminal any more.

In more important news, damn, they are comparing Katrina to Camille from 1969 which makes me pretty damn nervous. Be safe everyone.

I had the VMAs on, but I pretty much only paid attention when the names or performances I was interested in came up - namely, the rock ones. In general, it was background noise that failed to hold my interest for any length of time. But so much of MTV is dominated by music that I'm just not into that I wasn't expecting much anyway.

Hey, you know what, GOOD LUCK WITH CLASSES, you will kick them in the ass and then some appropriately asskicking song will start playing in the background. It'll be very Movie Of The Week. It'll be awesome. <3

The VMAs were on? Man, once upon a time I wouldn't have missed them, but now... I'm watching CNN instead.

WHEN DID I GROW UP, CLIO? WHEN?

I understand where you're coming from r.e. the movie. I feel like I should put qualifiers on my posts about movies to the effect of: "However, I can totally see why [nobody else/everybody else] will like this movie for exactly the same reasons I [liked/hated] it." :P

Good luck with classes! You'll do great, I know it!
