A weekend in the country

God, driving. Like riding a bike, really. I love the Merritt; the more southern parts of it especially feel so wonderfully pre-Eisenhower, with the old rusting dividers and the trees dipping low over the road and the little rest areas. You feel it's the road David and Susan took in Bringing Up Baby to get to the house in Connecticut. I listened to jazz most of the way up as it seemed more fitting. (Also as my crappy rental car doesn't seem to be charging up the ol' ipod, drat it!)

Lovely dinner last night at a fun little French restaurant in town with Tony and Angela, followed by a ride in the convertible with Angela at the wheel singing Pat Benetar at the top of our lungs. Now I'm planning the dinner I'm cooking tonight and doing a few other things that need doing before I head off to even deeper countryside for a family wedding.

I really hope my elevator is working when I get home . . .

I actually didn't because I rented a car in Stamford (much cheaper and don't have to drive out of the city), so I was on the train when I went by your place, though at the stop I did wave out the door in your general direction.

However, I didn't realize this was you, until you commented, so this is good to know. ^_^

No leopards, only luggage. However, unfortunately for me, no Cary Grant as sexy paleontologist either.
