Today is Tom Cruise's 40th birthday. Hence, we got out of work early.

This year's NYFD beefcake calendar will have three firemen who lost their lives on Sept 11. Does this strike anyone else as being somewhat creepy? Now, being that the guys at my local firehouse shop at my market, where I would ogle them, and they lost 15 guys, I have faced the fact that men I used to ogle are now dead. Ogling men who are dead, however, is unseemly.

In industry news, Michael Ovitz is apparently blaming the "Hollywood Gay Mafia" for his downfall. Given that most of the people he names aren't gay (I'm not counting Diller in that; I mean, please) no one knows what he's smoking. This has just given Geffen another opportunity to call him a nut in Vanity Fair.

Crank up the love songs and spread out the satin sheets: you're Romantic!Harry. Always sweet and with a kind word, you make all the girls - and the boys - of Hogwarts fall for you. You're a one-wizard man, however, and you're truly in love. You can be angsty at times - especially when your lover is not as committed as you - but your relationship is a happy one, filled with good times and fun. Your ideal slash pairings are Harry/Seamus, Harry/Justin, and Harry/Ron.
1. I love that picture; I love how the veins stand out on his arm.
2. No matter what I do, I always invoke me darlin' Irishman.

Hello!

Cruising in from Alex's LJ and noticed you are from Maine. Further browsed your LJ and saw you were born in Portland. Lucky you! I was born and raised in Augusta (not so lucky me). Left for college in 1989 and just returned with my family.

Just wanted to greet you as I haven't met a fellow HP fan/slash fan from Maine. Enjoy your holiday weekend and the good eats!

Claire

Don't we love Alex? Isn't he a dearie? Though I'm afraid I was a bit of a troublemaker in his LJ of late.

Hrm, Augusta. I must admit, not the most exciting place. I left Portland (Windham, actually) for college in 1987. Some of my friends have since returned to southern Maine but I haven't as yet. I think you're part of a trend.

Thank you, I did enjoy the weekend, especially after the heat broke on Thursday night. And the eats, especially the red hot dogs!!!!!!!

Alex is tres woobie...don't know about your troublemaking, but I'm sure he has much more bothersome fangirls. :)

You've got that right! *lol* But I must admit there is more here than there was when I was a teenager - hey, we have a 10 theater cineplex now! No comment about what Wal-Mart has done to the area, tho. Moved back for a number of reasons, mainly that living in/near Boston is *way* too expensive - how anyone can afford a house is beyond me, and we felt that our daughter needed more space to learn and grow than what our 4 room apartment could offer. (My icon is a pic of her). So far, she loves it here so we made the right decision. As far as a trend, I think you are right. Most of my friends from high school that left have made their way back to Maine. There is definitely something here that you appreciate more as an adult.

Wasn't the change in temperature from Thursday to Friday wonderful? I forgot how dramatic a change it can be around here. Glad you had a good weekend but red hot dogs? Sorry, but ugh! I've been traumautized by red hot dogs ever since I was in nursery school where they practically forced me to eat them!

Um, I'd like to add you my friends list, if this bothers you, please let me know.

Claire

I was the one who started that whole iced tea controversy. To be honest, I'm not really a fangirl per se--I'm more of a bemused observer, though a huge fan. The only writer that can make me go all flustery and ridiculous is [livejournal.com profile] ballyharnon, author of Of Linen, SB/RL and the best fic I've ever read. Though, now that I know her through LJ, I'm not as fangirly as I once may have been.

There is definitely something here that you appreciate more as an adult.
I can't agree more. It's a great place to be a child, an annoying place to be a teen (for the teen, but not so much to raise one, I'd expect) but an impossible place to be a young adult. There's more and more culture coming in to Maine all the time, however, and I'm sure that having the internet makes things much less isolated. Sort of like the way MTV made up for everyone only ever listening to WBLM.

I've been traumautized by red hot dogs ever since I was in nursery school where they practically forced me to eat them!
LOL! Poor you! People ask me if I'm going to have lobster when I go home and I always say, "No. Red hot dogs and Italian sandwiches from Amatos."

Um, I'd like to add you my friends list, if this bothers you, please let me know.
Not a whit! Shall add you to mine. If you've a mind (plug, plug), follow the link and watch me work out my Seamus/Dean obsession: Eight Ways From Sunday (http://www.schnoogle.com/authorLinks/Clio/Eight_Ways_From_Sunday/) I'm afraid it isn't H/D (for various boring structural reasons and because I can't do H/D justice and keep S/D in the center of the story), which keeps [livejournal.com profile] vanityfair from officially recommending it. Ah well.

Aha! So you're the one who started the whole iced-tea debate! I'm a coffee drinker, so tea is tea. Be it hot or cold, it is still yucky to me. Coffee clearly has me in its thrall as can be seen by my comment (referred to tea as 'flavored hot water', which [personal profile] aome kindly pointed out, coffee is also! lol)

Sort of like the way MTV made up for everyone only ever listening to WBLM.
Ah, good ole 'BLM. Strange station, tho. They can play some really good stuff and then throw in utter crap. As a teen I also listened to WTOS as they were alternative at the time and I went through an anti-American music phase. But today, I don't know what they are. I heard Creed, Bush, *Pink Floyd*, Papa Roach, and The Offspring all in a row. OK, where does PF fit in?

Italian sandwiches from Amatos.
They make the BEST Italians! I have fond memories of picnicing on those on the Promenade and Deering Oaks. :-)

Thanks for adding me to your friends list. While I do ship H/D, I will read other pairings. Can't say I gave S/D much thought until reading the NA journal and now I'm hooked! I will read your fic but I'm terrible at reviewing. However, I am starting to come out of this and will at least leave a few comments for feedback. I think Aja should post an 'unofficial' rec list, don't you?
