The question du mois
Sep. 19th, 2002 12:20 amYou knew it would happen eventually. I had to ask C____ the straight boy question.
C____: what were you going to axe me?
Clio: one sec, as I actually did want to ask you on a chat, anyway.
Clio: let me get the quote
C____: k
Clio: I always thought I would follow you up to the gates of Hell if I had to.
And that, once arriving there, I would beg the gatekeeper to take me
instead of you. And if he must take you, I would ask to come with you. And
if he would not let me come with you, I would wait for you on the shores
of the river.
Clio: okay, cassie wrote that
Clio: and it's dialog from one good friend to another, two straight boys
Clio: and the question of the month is, would you ever say that to a very close straight male friend?
C____: no.
C____: With guys you tell them that with your actions
Clio: hrm. well, that makes sense.
Clio: these guys may have done that in a sense
Clio: but um, they are in a war--and they're 17
Clio: make any difference
C____: seems like something people might say if they're in the trenches in WWI
C____: the big one
Clio: no, the "big one" was WWII, Archie.
Clio: but that's a good point
C____: the lesser one
Clio: well, that's the project, everyone is asking their straight male friends if they would say that
Clio: because the characters involved, some people think are actually in love
C____: I think it's kind of a gay dialog
Clio: well, that certainly answers that question.
Sorry Charlie. Apparently you could not bribe him with your charming way of stealing his bacon.
