I just got a really, really good spoof email "from" PayPal tonight. The address was right (service@paypal.com) but the email seemed a little off--mostly, the weird code in the header, and the way it kept saying "PayPal," even when a comma was not called for, and that it was telling me about some weird activity on my account that supposedly happened four months ago.

I've already sent it to the PayPal fraud people, but I want to call everyone's attention to PayPal's excellent email security page. Several of the things they point out were true of this email: the email addressed me as "PayPal member"; it asked me to click on a link to re-verify my account. I looked at my other emails, and then sent this one in. But let me tell you, it looked really good.

Meanwhile, Medium was really creepy tonight.

Medium was very creepy. But good. One of my favorite things about this show is how authentic Allison and Joe's marriage seems - they have good times and they get mad at each other. But likely I am just weird.

Was that that thing I saw with a lot of blood on the walls and a doctor praying or something in the corner? Because that scared me very much.

Yes, and I'm sorry you were scared. I've never known this show to be so gory. In the end the doctor turned out to be as much a victim as the girl that was on the table if that eases your mind at all.

No, actually, that's no only a think I also really love about the show, but when I read a review of it in EW it was something the critic particularly pointed out, the very mundane reality of their marriage and the way her husband deals with her powers thing as being awesome and a good counterpoint to the psychic story.

But I really loved the ending.

*nods* I also compare it to a lot of the other marriages you see on TV - either they're ridiculously overdramatized or they're perfect or they just don't seem real. Of course, seeing as Allison DuBois is a real person, that may have something to do with it...

The ending was really good, and I don't know about you, but I was impressed with both that teenage actress and the doctor in the mental hospital - they had to do a bit of stretching in their roles.

I've gotten a couple of fraudulent "PayPal" emails. Of course, not actually having a PayPal account, I was able to identify them as fake rather quickly. *g*

I seem to get PayPal spoofs about once every month or so. Most of them do look very good, very authentic, but there's just a few things that don't ever jibe about them. Once I see the 'PayPal' in my inbox, I just roll my eyes now.

Of course, Firefox has this (https://do-not-add.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?application=firefox&category=Privacy%20and%20Security&numpg=10&id=121) extention that detects spoof sites and warns you about them.

It's one of the reasons I love this show, too. Though I only watched the first 20 minutes of Medium (it's on the DVR, waiting for me to watch the rest of it). The marriage is SUCH a "true" marriage. They do really love each other, and are in love with each other, but they piss the hell out of each other regularly, too.

Yeah, that was fairly clear I thought. I think that made it worse, really. Eeek. And it's okay, I'm very easily scared.
