Between this place and my workplace I really am thinking that no one has a brain anymore. Thank goodness I'm going back to school, where one is expected to think. I'm sick to death of pretending that I don't think about anything, and I'm tired of watching people do whatever they can to live their lives, as the guys on Car Talk like to say, "unencumbered by the thought process." It isn't even snobbishness, because I'm not talking about actual innate abilities here for the most part. It isn't that most people are stupid—it's that so many people simply do not want to think, and if you are someone who by your very nature causes the people around you to think, they will not only avoid you, but curse your very soul.

It's not only disappointing, it's distressing.

Easy, now. It'll pass, I promise, and Spring will come and you'll feel that buoyant trust and faith and joy in people around you again. Just hold on and wait for it.

*blesses your very soul*

I miss you! And dude: you need to warn for character death and general darkness you naughty thing. It was my own fault but it might not have been the best thing to read at 6am on my way to my therapist!

Someone somewhere made an icon of some picture of Devon that makes it look like he's some tough thing sitting on a stoop smoking and I made a pit stop in the bad place before remembering that he was walking directly behind me out of the theater at the PoA premiere and he might have come up to my shoulder. And you know I am not tall.

I am sorry! I don't think of warnings about much stuff lately, especially as I've been working on original fiction, and there's no warning in that mindset.

Yeah, I know, he's shorter than me! :O

(Good luck with college; I got into one of the MA programmes I applied for.)

Well, no, no warning in original fiction but the blurb.

You got in? That is brilliant? Details? Where? When?

I dunno if I will take it as I have another app pending! So we'll see.

Totally feeling your pain. My last place of employment enjoys promoting those people, as well, and punishing the thinkers. Sometimes it gets to be too much. Glad you're not there forever.

Can you have some irish whiskey on my behalf today? Or bailey's? I suggested to Carrie that what the world needs now is a brain-implanted dictionary with net-terms defined, because the fact that so many people are speaking completely different languages makes it impossible for us to communicate.

I feel this is unlikely as I am going over to S's place this evening and as she has a wee one there is no debauchery planned. I did just barely remember not to wear orange, though. I had been thinking about orange and then I was like, um, it's St. Pat's and I really don't want to send that sort of message.

Sadly I don't think it's the net terms. I think it's the intentions behind them, and what people do when they don't think they have to be responsible for their actions.

*hugs* I want desperately to say something witty or relevent, but I do not have the mental clairity to do so at the moment (owing to my inability to stop having fun long enough to sleeeeeeeep). But I think you know my thoughts on the issue already. ;) Chin up darling - things will be better soon.

Hmm. In my big MBTI Reading Week this week, I started to formulate this theory (it could be bunnies) that LJ/TEH INTAWREB involves a greater than societally average number of introverts, who are not used to thinking and communicating in the same way that extraverts are.

Or it could be that people are just stupid.

I couldn't agree more, and I'll be really interested to see how that theory evolves. I have one of my own, but it might be a little too wanky to put here. I do feel that when you are first online you think, "those stereotypes about online are wrong! These people are normal!" and then after a while you're like, "Um, okay, only some of them."

If I only had a brain....

"Between this place and my workplace I really am thinking that no one has a brain anymore."

Um, what counts as "this place?" Because I can think of several people on your friends page who have brains. Hee, this is reminding me of what we were talking about Sunday with the generalized posts that are really directed posts....

"This place" meaning either, LJ as a whole, or the internet as a whole, as it's bigger than just, HP fandom. Not my flist, as my flist is of course pre-selected. More, the general pop. So I actually was thinking of about seven or eight different incidents, each of which involved a lot of different people, here at work and in the general online sphere. Not narrow enough to be a directed thing. More a shout at the universe.

The world is disproportionately filled with idiots, that's why I think the stars for intelligent and witty friends like you.
