Can this fandom possibly deal with a film and a book in the same year?

Re HPB, my real vote is Godric and my sentimental vote is Seamus because I'm loyal like that. Yes, I will stand in line at a certain bookstore in NYC again, hopefully with friends. Yes, I will buy an advance UK adult cover hardback. (I love those adult covers; they're so pretty.) No, I won't be rereading OotP beforehand; I can't imagine I'll be able to reread 5 or 6 until I've read 7 and know how it ends. I probably won't be staying up all night to read HPB, but rather will zoom through it the next day.

I hope that we all will be a bit better able this time to respect each other's immediate emotional reactions to this book (though, to be fair, I think OotP took us all by surprise). I also hope that no one will be saying, "Get over it!" no matter who dies, because that's just mean.

Re GoF pics, poor Ron looks like my brother in his 1972 prom picture but hey, the hair totally works. Or possibly a reject from the Bay City Rollers? Harry, of course, looks dashing as all hell in his white tie. I love that they are saving Hermione for the movie; if there is an image I don't want to be spoiled for it's that one, though having seen Emma at premieres I think we have a good idea how she'll look in that scene. The Unexpected Task is my favorite chapter of GoF and close to being my favorite chapter in HP ever, so I'm really looking forward to seeing it unfold on screen. As for the Harry and Hermione picture, . I can't wait to see the film with as many of you as possible!

Speaking of which, Cassie posted a long time ago about what songs are in your soundtrack, so as things are in a pre-holiday lull at work, I thought I'd post some of mine from EWFS and what I'm listening to a lot for the sequel:

EWFS P: You've Got to Hide Your Love Away Hermione and Seamus do a lot of dancing to Erasure, Pop! 20 Greatest Hits
EWFS 1: Birthday Oasis, Definitely Maybe and (What's the Story) Morning Glory are playing at Harry's birthday party
EWFS 2: Fixing a Hole Miles Davis, Kind of Blue sums up both Ginny and Draco's mood during that late summer at the Burrow.
EWFS 3: Hello, Goodbye Tori Amos, Boys for Pele when Draco suddenly becomes someone Ginny doesn't even know.
EWFS 5: For You Blue Elliot Smith's songs from the Good Will Hunting soundtrack for Draco's confusion, Jack and Jackie's first date, Dean and Kevin, and Ron thinking about Padma
EWFS 7: Think for Yourself Led Zeppelin box set, esp. "Dancing Days" and "Whole Lotta Love" for Jack and Jackie's second date and Ginny and Draco's reunion.
EWFS 9: Do You Want to Know a Secret Suzanne Vega for Jack and Jackie's third date, Draco getting along with Ron, and Seamus and Dean's general confusion
EWFS10: If I Fell Honestly? Baseball on the radio for Dean and the Quidditch match
EWFS11: Oh! Darling Black Crowes, The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion for Seamus and Dean's date and Ron and Padma in the nook.
EWFS12: I'm Down Rolling Stones Singles for Seamus and Dean being sad, and Hermione confronting Draco.
EWFS13: All Together Now 40s-50s dance music for the ball.

Also some general songs:
Hermione, on Harry: Kate Bush, "The Man with the Child in His Eyes"
Harry, on Hermione: Cake, "Short Skirt/Long Jacket"; Led Zeppelin, "Dancing Days"
Harry, on his situation: Queens of the Stone Age, "Go with the Flow"
Dean, on Seamus: Bill Withers, "Lovely Day". I have a very hard time, oddly, with music for these two. Ginny and Draco are so jazz to me. At the moment, much Cole Porter.
General source of inspiration for the sequel, and likely source for chapter titles (as the Beatles were for EWFS): Garbage, all three albums.

Someone else told me they immediately thought of Seamus when they heard the title. I thought of you. :-)

I agree with your thoughts on the book and may just have to order the UK hardcover as well. My hubby is British and I therefore have British relatives who could make this easy. I'm planning on buying the British paperbacks of 1-5 soon. Just getting into the hardcover British OotP that my mother-in-law has on loan to me. I prefer the "real thing," so to speak, as I'm used to Brit speak anyway. It's just more authentic and more fun.

Very interesting soundtrack. Love that story. May just have to re-read soon... :-)
