Well, that was a fucked up morning.

Woke up, got my breakfast (two scrambled eggs with Fox Point seasoning and a multi-grain english muffin with butter and raspberry-rhubarb jam, as I am a creature of habit). While brushing my teeth I turned on the hot water in my shower, as it takes a while to climb up through our ancient plumbing to my fifth floor apartment from the basement. Finish brushing teeth--water not hot. Well, this was true yesterday, so I let it run a bit longer while I mouthwash. Water still not hot. Wrap Ali's present and lay out clothing. Water still not hot. Give up, wash face in cold water, dowse hair in kitchen sink, trot off to work rather late.

Get in elevator, hit "1". Doors close, but we go nowhere. It's an old elevator, so I can open the door manually. Close it again. We go nowhere. I get out, the doors close, it goes nowhere.

Look up and see that the door to our roof (it's locked and you need a key to open it from the inside) is mysteriously open.

Walk out and see that our suddenly glass-free outer front door is propped open.

Our management company sucks. It's like living in the goddamned projects.

At least now I know why I was so cold last night! Today I will be thankful for heat and hot water! I'm using my Sarsgaard icon to cheer myself up. Also, lunch with Ali!
