I'm doing the wish meme a bit backwards--cutting the instructions and leaving the wishlist. Also, cribbing from Cassie, that if you have a wish list could you link to it here, and then I can go check it out? THANKS!

Step One
- Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Draco/Harry icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
- If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.
- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post (it'll be public) so that the holiday joy will spread.

Step Two
- Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:
- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.
You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.

There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

Clio's wish list

1.) I wish that AIDS weren't cutting a swath through the Americas and the antipodes and Africa and Asia and Europe, and selfishly, I wish that my darling P weren't HIV+. If you want to help, please support amfAR, which helps with research here in the US, or the World Aids Campaign.

2.) I wish that my close friend and college roommate Laura didn't lose three of her children, shortly after birth, to a genetic defect. If you want to help research into her and other defects, please support the Colleen Giblin Foundation. (If you do, please email me so you can give in the name of her children.)

3.) I wish that my liberties didn't have to be so fiercely defended, but they do. If you want to help with that defense, please support the American Civil Liberties Union.

4.) I wish that it weren't so difficult for many African Americans to go to college. If you want to help, please support the United Negro College Fund.

5.) I wish that sexual orientation didn't matter except in the bedroom, but it does. If you want to help the work for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender equal rights, please support the Human Rights Campaign.

6.) I wish that my reproductive rights weren't under such attack. If you want to help make sure that there are strong pro-choice voices, and that there are places for women to go to get real information about their options, please support Planned Parenthood.

7.) I wish that war and natural disasters didn't mean the loss of home, possessions, even life for so many. If you want to help people affected in that way, please support the American Red Cross, or the Red Cross in your country.

8.) I wish that no one ever were frightened by the word "cancer". If you want to help fight this disease, please support the American Cancer Society.

9.) I wish that no women, children, or men were subjected to domestic violence. If you want to help, please support the Family Violence Prevention Fund or a shelter in your area.

10.) I wish that, especially at this time of the year, we remembered that all paths lead to God. If you want to help support religious tolerance around the world, including Eastern and Pagan traditions as well as the dominant Western ones, please support the Council for a Parliament of the World's Religions.

Have a blessed holiday, whichever one you celebrate!
