is my favorite poet. What I actually want you all to do is read Spring and All, which is book length and combines poetry and prose and meta musings and all sorts of things, and contains the line: "Meanwhile, SPRING, which has been approaching for several pages, is at last here." So I give you a poem from it; the roman numeral is its section within Spring and All:

Our orchestra
is the cat's nuts—

Banjo jazz
with a nickelplated

amplifier to
soothe

the savage beast—
Get the rhythm

That sheet stuff
's a lot a cheese

Man
gimme the key

and lemme loose—
I make 'em crazy

with my harmonies—
Shoot it Jimmy

Nobody
Nobody else

but me—
They can't copy it


Am doing grad school things and cleaning up things and plan for vacation things and maybe some plot things and some menu-planning things and I might write the deamus drabble challenge. This song reminds me of them, actually. I am so very shippy. *sigh*

Yeah! My friend P and I are going away the first week of November on a road trip. Destinations uncertain. Likely Maryland and such, as he lives in DC. I can't wait!

You know, I almost put up that poem and then I decided that people mostly knew it and I wanted them to hear a new one. So now they are both sort of here!

Thanks! I'm going on a car trip with a good friend in the first week of November, and to Dionne's for Thanksgiving, and I'm taking off between Christmas and New Year's, so I have a lot to look forward to. It hasn't been a good sort of busy or distracted; I'd rather be focussed on what is important to me, but such are the wages of wages! And things at work should have eased up when I get back from the early November trip.
