Another beautiful day.
Sep. 11th, 2004 08:42 amLike many of you, my mind goes back to events of some years ago, and likely it always will. I looked at my entry from 2002, and know that my hopes in my country were dashed; I looked at my entry from 2003, and know that my hopes in my city were fulfilled. But time does heal, and I find myself with little new to say.
The RNC tried to say that because of 9/11 Americans must vote for them, but they didn't succeed in taking away the significance of the day. We're beginning to stop being afraid of the date and there are things happening today in the city that have nothing to do with the events of three years ago. We're moving on, but not forgetting.
Last year they had children reading the names downtown, but this year they're having adult relatives. I don't know how long we will do this, but this simple ceremony seems like the most appropriate. And so I will keep this simple as well.
