I made three icons tonight! One of Devon Murray (who is finally beginning to look like my mental Seamus) one of Neil Finn (who is always my mental image of Seamus grown-up) and one of the Future President Of The United States.
Speaking of whom, the AP has retracted that story about the booing—and if anyone can find the web sites referred to in this E&P article, could you link me? I'm really, really glad the reporter (who apparently mistook shocked "ooh's" for mean "boo's") got it wrong, because ugh if it were true.
I watched two films today, Victor/Victoria (which is on again) and The Magnificent Seven, and loved them both. Oddly, so many parallels between The Magnificent Seven and Oceans 11. There's the enigmatic guy in charge (Yul Brynner/George Clooney) and the good looking Sundance/Doc Holliday type (Steve McQueen/Brad Pitt) who get their mission and go out looking for the guys to fill the job; the whole first act pulling together of the posse as we meet pro after pro; thinking they are done but adding on one last member--the kid with something to prove (Horst Buchholz/Matt Damon) who seems good, then fucks up, then makes good in a big way. Only, of course, more people die in Magnificent Seven. I really love the gathering of the posse stuff. It's like in the Belgariad when you have the prophecy and you watch each person show up.
I'm also getting ready for the season finale of Six Feet Under, and I'm sure we'll all be bereft. It's been a great 13 weeks, gathering here with
calloocallay and sometimes
epicyclical and drinking up my booze and chatting, having a reason to clean up the apartment every week, plus really wonderful television. I'm sorry to see it go for another 15-18 months. Wibble!
Hmm, I need to make a David and Keith icon.
