Yeah, I think a lot of people vote for the underdogs, thinking the great singers are covered.
I think John is getting a lot of old people's votes. Once, my dad was over and heard some of Idols. He thought a lot of them sounded like they were "shouting" but he kind of liked John. I realize that is pretty anecdotal, but still.
On the other hand, I have to confess I am not feeling the passion of last year. I guess because Reuben and Clay were both such long shots next to the pretty people. Of course, I also thought Fantasia and LaToya had it in the bag.
:)) man, i look at your spoilers every week and it's terrible of me because we're a couple of days behind you re broadcasts. yet i cannot help myself. then when it rolls around to AI night here, my housemates are like, "/:) you know who's leaving again, don't you. :-L"
jennifer :(((( when she was in the bottom three those other couple of weeks i was so furious. she is so talented.
i don't worry, though, at least now she isn't bound to an AI contract. she will be amazing without AI, i am sure.
That's a good point, about the contract. It certainly fucked over Justin. Not that I thought he was all that great, but still. She will get signed in no time whatsoever. And if she's smart, she'll do something more in the vein of Jill Scott than Whitney Houston.
I don't watch, but I think it's John that's from Buffalo?
There are a LOT of people calling in multiple times for him, just to see the hometown boy win -- even if they don't actually like him. I heard my mom (who is obsessed, but no judge of music whatsoever) talking about it at Easter. s:(
Drag, man. Yeah, at the end of the show they were talking about how people have to vote on talent, that it's not a personality contest, but I honestly think that everyone thought that the Big Three would be safe and voted for their fav of the others.

Date: 2004-04-21 06:20 pm (UTC)That makes no sense at all. I didn't watch (and I didn't vote, so I guess that's what I get) but that is just plain crazy.
Tons of pity votes?

Date: 2004-04-21 09:30 pm (UTC)I think people were so busy making sure their pet favs made it despite weak performances that they forgot to vote for the good people, honestly.
I'm just truly pissed that I have to hear John sing again next week. -_-
