American Idol was pushed back a night by the shrub's speech defending his recent sins, so tonight is idol night, baby! My man QT is the guest judge on this night of movie songs, pushing the big KBII (w00t! Friday!) I'm a little disappointed that so few of you voted in that special AI poll, but I think we all agree that one of the teenagers is the next one to go.

George: Against All Odds? What? I mean, he sounds fine, but it's a seriously weird choice, as, like all Phil Collins songs it is really easy to sing, there isn't much you can do with it (it just kinda lays there) so it's like, whatever. The best comment came from QT who said, "You made me forget I hate this song." Even Randy and Paula didn't like it. But I think I might vote for him because I don't want him to be gone from one bad choice.

Jennifer: I Have Nothing. Nice choice, very nice. Avoided the pitfalls of the song. And she worked it! She's getting more and more confident every week, it's great. Even Simon was blown away. Go Jen!

JPL: Jailhouse rock. This is a very good idea, man. Odd that Elvis is so good to him, as Elvis is often hard to sing--he was such a great singer he could make a mediocre song sound great. However, JPL, methinks: bar singer. The man needs a band to front, really. AI is not the place he should be. Go Quentin for defending the "nerdy rocker" in the face of Simon, who just doesn't have the right sense of humor.

Diana: Well, someone had to sing it. You know what I mean. The Celine song. What I want to know is, who is doing this kid's makeup? She's 16 and she looks like a 40-year-old drag queen. Once again, she sounds great, but I just don't care. There's no emotion, no connection. Maybe she's just too young. Once again, QT got it spot on.

Fantasia: Summertime, an excellent choice! Sadly, it's way over-arranged, but that ain't her fault. Randy is in LOVE. Paula is in LOVE. QT is in LOVE but thinks that she should stop with the ballads already. And Simon used the word "magical". And Fantasia is crying.

Jasmine: When I Fall In Love is not benefitting from the weird way they edited it. Why bother with the verse if you're going to cut it in half? What is that about? Jasmine sounds . . . well, actually, she started okay but she's pitchy at the end. (Also, another bad arrangement. The musical director should be fired.) I think she's vulnerable.

John: As Time Goes By, and the verse too. Good lord. A white dinner jacked and no tie, John? WHY? I really think he needs to grow into his voice. He just screams not ready.

LaToya: Somewhere, a very smart choice. Not sure why she chose to dress like Liza c. 1977 but I'm not going to worry about that because she was amazing.

So, I still think one of the kids is going to go, and I think the three of them will be the next three to go unless someone seriously fucks up. And if we are left with George, Fantasia, LaToya and Jennifer, THAT is when things will get really interesting.
