Inaugural email post
Jan. 9th, 2004 06:50 pmThings learned on business trip:
1. Always bring phone charger, as addiction to backgammon runs down battery, preventing me from calling back
msscribe.
2. Rock! Delta crown room once again has the really good cheese biscuits.
3. Airport-as-mall concept comes in handy when all NYC Body Shops are out of Soy cleanser. *buys four*
4. Keyboard on palm fine, but not intuitive for this touch typer who never looks at the keys. My fingers know where they are; my eyes, not so much. Am thinking whole sidekick/blackberry/cool phone little keyboard thing would not be that helpful. Do the kids even know where home row is anymore?
5. Every waiting area has CNN on a big screen. CNN sucks. However, I have learned:
a. If you are in CA, and there are deer around, there are also mountain lions; you just can't see them.
b. Today would have been Nixon's 91st birthday. Celebrate as you see fit.
c. Jesse Ventura as a fellow at the K School? (Otherwise known as the John F. Kennedy School for Public Policy at Harvard University.) I am all astonishment.
6. Judging by the users of the Crown Room, US business still almost completely white and male. *looks around* Except for me and one South Asian guy, the only people of color here are the hired help. Male/female ratio is about 90/10. Wait, a Japanese guy just walked in. No,
ali_wildgoose, he is NOT your man of destiny.
7. Mmmmm, free Maker's Mark and ginger.
8. First class is great, but first class upgrades due to frequent flyer status fucking ROCK. *watches coach load, pre-flight diet Coke in hand*
9. Meeting at which important project is due now scheduled for 26 Jan, meaning I can go to cool party on 22nd AND be relatively stress free during weekend Celebrating a Quarter Century of Back.
10. I am going to plot this weekend. The femslash has me all jazzed about the EWFS sequel again. And if anyone out there is good at titles, comment here, as the femslash needs some so I can get get it posted. *is notoriously useless with titles*
w00t, on my way home!
