Thanksgiving was great. I took Wednesday off and marketed and cooked, and then cooked more on Thursday.

Brined Herb Roasted Turkey. I swear by this recipe! I used the leftover herbs in the cornbread dressing, which was just homemade cornbread, sauteed onions, the herbs, lots of butter, and eggs.
Potato gratin, without the bacon, with half the potatoes and milk but ALL of the cheese. Mmmm.
Cranberry sauce
Roasted carrot, yam, brussels sprout, beet, onion, and acorn squash
Spinach salad with blue cheese
Apple crisp
Pumpkin pie with ginger snap crumb crust

Cassie and Emily came over and we ate and played backgammon and watched Bridget Jones' Diary, and it got rather late and they stayed over, so we had breakfast this morning.

I have wasted this entire day, however, watching bad television as all the movie channels have let me down. On the other hand, I bought several DVDs yesterday via the web, so the next time this happens I will be prepared!

Anyway, so the point of the day: I am really so thankful, so much I can't even tell you, that I have friends like you to get me through rough bits. I'm also thankful that I have the intelligence and the opportunities that have led me to a good job in a good city, and that I have friends old and new to share things with. Thank god for friends, truly.

:D I'm so glad it was wonderful, honey. And yes, thank God for friends. They keep us sane.

And those who don't gladly accompany us down that slippery slope to insanity ;).

I'm just sorry I wasn't there during your Pie Event. How did that work out in the end?

You know, along with the apple crisp, I might have to snatch your recipe for the ginger snap crust. Mom and I were discussing pumpkin pie and crusts while prepping dinner together. We concluded that while serving the pie it does not matter if the decorative edge of the crust falls off because no one ever eats it anyway. Besides, it seems that regular crusts become soggy when paired with pumpkin, made from the same recipe for crusts that when paired with, say, lemon, stays remarkably fresh and crisp.

Also, side note, I like the new journal scheme.
