So, as you've heard from just about everyone else involved, was in Boston this weekend. Went up with [livejournal.com profile] ali_wildgoose to see [livejournal.com profile] maybethemoon. Short version: Much fun was had. Moony is as awesome as you think she is, as cute as in those pictures, a total cuddle bunny, funny as hell, and must move to the north east. So:

Friday my company had a big Field Day/Color War/call-it-what-you-will teamwork building thingum at a sporting complex in NJ. I managed to avoid having to run any races. However, had to coach someone who was blindfolded into putting together a 24 piece children's puzzle. Unfortunately blindfolded person was (a) a control freak (b) who wouldn't trust us and (c) kept trying to slide the pieces together instead of lifting one up and snapping it into place. So much time wasted, so much! Was shaking afterward with frustration. It was like spending an afternoon with a toddler, only worse because you couldn't say, "Okay, mister, you're getting a time out!" Needless to say, I had a cigarette after that.

Went home very briefly then grabbed some sushi and met Ali at the train station. Trains north were very late due to hurricane damage south of us. Our train was about an hour and fifteen minutes late leaving NY, and I don't think we made up any of it. We pulled into 128 with nary a cab in sight, called the companies who were very shady to us, and an hour later finally got into one to go back to her house. Checked schedules into Boston, realized if we were going to commuter rail it we'd need to get up at 7. Slept four hours.

Scrapped plans for commuter rail in favor of driving in and parking near waterfront. However, Ali's sister had blown out the speakers in the jeep playing System of a Down at full volume, so cd car kit rendered unusable and we had to listen to the radio the entire weekend. Grr!

Wandered about North End, where Ali bought a marzapan pear. Found pub for meeting place. Hung about drinking orange juice. Saw [livejournal.com profile] tromboneborges outside and beckoned him in. Gossipped muchly. Got a phone call from [livejournal.com profile] msscribe, who by the way sounds right as rain, go Dionne! [livejournal.com profile] heinous_bitca and [livejournal.com profile] maybethemoon arrived later, delayed by comics. (This, by the way, is a problem caused by anime (well, manga) rather than an anime problem. Just to be clear on that.) All are hungry, so after a bit more gossip, we depart for lunch.

Good old Boston Chinese food. Peking Ravioli. BBQ pork fried rice that is dark, dark brown. Duck sauce the consistency of applesauce. [livejournal.com profile] dancingrain arrived as we paid check. We then went to get ice cream and walked to the Cambridgeside Galleria. On walk over, dissected nearly every extant HP RPG. While in Old Navy, got call from Heidi and everyone ran back to Apple Store to check out GT.net. As others have said, karma is a bitch.

Lost Erica and Jules to other commitments, so we left for Newbury Street and tea, where we attempted to download to poor Moony the entire catalog of Amoeba inside jokes with moderate success. But hey, at least she says when we're being annoying. Moved on to Newbury Comics and a candy store where I procured a Busta Rhymes greatest hits and some of those flat sticks of Jolly Rancher, yay! Then dinner in North End, where a drunken woman proceeded to take pictures of all and sundry. (Josh and I discussed whether a restaurant in the North End is really the place to randomly click a camera and thought they might have been FBI agents under cover.) After a drive back to Ali's house, Josh and I concluded our day-long cultural critique with a horrified viewing of VH1's top 50 album covers. Only the company, the champagne, and host Ron Livingston made that viewable. Again, four hours sleep.

Brekkie at Dunkin Donuts (natch) then everyone hit the road, Josh to his problem sets and we to ferry Moony back to Fawl Rivah. On trip down, sang Crowded House and any other old thing rather loudly in poor Moony's ear, so I'm sure she won't be asking me to sing again any time soon. Nice, lazy day spent on cape, in and out of Ali's mom's house there, lured into a cafe by the smell of onion rings. Much, MUCH fic discussion, where Ali makes me think more clearly about Harry, who has been giving me trouble on the sequel. Then back to the house closer to town (after being hit with horrible construction on 495) and a race to the train thanks to another lying taxi dispatcher. Meant to work on sequel outline on train. Instead, fell asleep.

Am incredibly tired. No rest for the weary. HOLLY: contact me!
