There are fights, there are kerfuffles, and then there are just some things that are beyond. the. pale.

In the eighteen months that I have been in this fandom, and the twelve months that I have been on LJ, I have seen a lot of battles. You all have seen them, too. My style is not to post about them here, but to talk to people privately and offer support. I'm buddies with epicyclical, so I've seen the nastiness that gets directed at people around here. I've also seen what proxy fighting can do, and I want no part of it. My rule is if you don't like someone, stay the bloody fuck out of their LJ.

But the current campaign against msscribe and irinaauthor goes beyond anything I've seen, in this fandom or elsewhere. It is, in a word, disgusting. It is based on lies, and comes from jealousy and bitterness.

I'm not even going to link to the filth that these so-called fans are flinging around; there are plenty of links elsewhere, including the journals of the above lovely ladies as well as angiej. However, there is one event in this entire mess which I do feel qualified to comment on directly.

The suggestion that msscribe, or anyone who knows her, is in any way involved in the pottersginny affair shows a willfull lack of understanding for how much those words can hurt someone. I, personally, am still upset about some of the things that were said in that thread, to me and to others. They weren't just insulting or hateful, they were abhorrent.

I truly believe that the evil (and the good) that people do comes back to them—not from those they have wronged, but from an unexpected corner. I suggest that folks start taking really good care of their karma, because as the man said, payback is a bitch.

I've been trying to get a grip on what's going on and, sans computer, have been having a tricky time of it. I can't make heads or tails of most of these posts, but I did see that someone on the GT side posted private email without permission, and that was about as deep as I got.

That was bad enough, but man I can't even begin to understand what's going on here.

I'm with ivyblossom on this one. I went to the LJ's of angiej, irinaauthor, and msscribe and still cannot figure out what's going on exactly. What is the whole pottersginny affair? Anyone feel like explaining? I'm sorry if I'm being annoying, but I am really hopelessly confused.

Argh. I'm so sorry all this stuff is getting to you so much. That Pottersginny thing was seriously ugly. (Did anyone ask her why a 'Christian' was reading Harry Potter? Hey, why not mess with her mind a bit? Heehee! Ahem... Sorry...)

I think it does all have its root in jealousy. As you know, I see the fandom as a mini-cyber-city where everyone is scrabbling and scratching for status. We all know the ugliness that brings out.

It's a miracle genuine friendships flourish at all but I think you've got a big chunk of them so what does that say about you? :)
