I am currently 3-for-3 in the who's out. (That first week, I gave people just one guess.) I'm rarely right, and it isn't as though I'm feeling this season is so predictable, really. This seems to go along with my not really hugely hating anyone on the show this year. I mean, Danny's irritating, but in a way I can tolerate.

I was disappointed that the group number was pre-taped, though since they were singing to those Motown tracks and therefore lipsynching their own vocals it was understandable. Still, it didn't give me what I want from a group number, and I feel that if it was going to be pretaped they should have had silly costumes for that Sonny-and-Cher-Variety-Hour feel.

Ruben was great—good to see him—but I love that they positioned him such that Ryan didn't talk to him for very long. None of those awkward "so what have you been doing for the last six years" questions. I hope they do the same with Taylor, not because I dislike him (though I do) but because at least Ruben's first record sold well. Three down, four to go.

Smokey and Joss were great, but Stevie's medley was ultimately a little pointless, much as I love seeing him under any circumstances whatsoever. Let's please focus on 70s Stevie and not 80s Stevie, shall we?

Right, so the results, and like many others the actual actual end result was cut off by my TIVO. Still, the futzing around about Michael was ridiculous. I bet they would have saved Matt in a heartbeat, but they have to hold back for when it's actually going to be worth something. Ryan was definitely panicked because he didn't want to hear it from Fox, and getting the judges to do a thing is like herding cats, so I'm not sure that forcing them to make a decision in the last three minutes of the show is the best idea.

I was really upset that Matt was in the bottom three, and I think it was a combination of being early in the show and not having a good excerpt for the recap at the end. I didn't see Matt and Kris the first time, and the excerpt for Matt wasn't interesting at all, so I didn't vote for him, and after seeing his performance and then seeing that he was in the bottom I was really annoyed with myself. As we go on that becomes less of an issue—the shows get shorter and have a lot less bullshit; I think we drop to an hour in two weeks and that first hour show is like a sprint to the finish.

[livejournal.com profile] americanidol seems to have a big hate on for Megan, which isn't surprising given how fangirls feel about girls on television in general. I'm sorry that Allison doesn't have more of a following yet, but I hope she'll get there. She's pretty fantastic and quickly becoming my favorite.

Thoughts?

I believe the decision not to talk to Ruben was entirely spontaneous and based on the fact that he looked like he was about to fall over and die in a pool of his own sweat. Song was good, though.

Megan had a horrible attitude with the judges and I hope she goes soon, but those boobs... those boobs are each a golden parachute, and I don't even think she has had to cash one of them in yet.

Allison needs to win. I hope it comes down to her and Gokey and she makes him choke on his own glasses somehow.

I missed the results show but am pleased with the decision. I've started voting for Allison like mad, too!

I don't think it would be her and Gokey, but it could be her and Adam, and then all bets are off. Top two is hard to predict; half the time it comes down to who gets screwed least by the coronation song.

I was more transfixed by Megan's boobs last week when they each had their own pocket. This week seemed more about her legs to me. Ali lurves her big time. Because we were flying through the ep with company in her house, we didn't watch people sass the judges, so I merely saw it go by, rather than listening to her blahdiddy blah blah.

I seem to recall Ruben always sweating, but I'm not sure. At the very least, it was kinda Whitney-like, the sweating. I thought the song was very, the songs he sings, which I like, as Luther is dead so we need a new one. I hope he has his shit together this time.

This might have already been all over the internet (havent even read the recap yet), but we watched Megan pretty closely during the results with tivo tools at our disposal - and she is totally and completely smashed. Like it looks like she drank a whole bottle of vodka in preparation for being eliminated... and then wasn't.
