rawles said, "There IS a certain freedom to hating a canon while maintaining love for select things it brought you!" So I thought, I should put up my own personal top ten BSG moments, for posterity. Listed in chronological order, no spoilers for the finale:

1. Kara going back to Caprica to get the arrow, Helo and Sharon-Athena.
   
2. Kara returning to Caprica to rescue Sam.
   
3. Chief, Kara, Lee and Laura opening the tomb on Kobol.
   
4. Chief and his team building the blackbird.
   
5. Labor Organizer Chief making a rousing speech on New Caprica.
   
6. Chief realizing it was Gaeta that helped the resistance on New Caprica.
   
7. Chief figuring out the Eye of Jupiter.
   
8. Lee testifying in defense of Baltar.
   
9. Chief manually fucking the FTL drives during the mutiny.
   
10. Sam remembering the history of the Final Five on Earth.

Yes, though to be fair, 3&7 are about love of mythos rather than love of Chief; Chief was just always around for that part too.

Chief, Kara and Laura opening the tomb on Kobol.

I contest an omission in this one, madam. LEE was also directly involved in this tomb opening, which sticks in my mind because his subsequent turning and gazing intently with his blue, blue eyes and gunmetal camo against granite and saying "After you," to Kara and the rest of the party as Kara smiled back brilliantly against the verdant oversaturated greens of Kobol as they could barely contain their...anything, so close they were to finding a way to a place call home, so filled with hope! And it is one of my own top ten favourite moments of BSG.

I honestly didn't remember, it was like: well, Kara had the arrow, and Laura was there because she had the book and Chief was there because he was always there for the mystical parts, badmouthing his parents. Anyone else I should add?

(also, unlike other shows, I've only seen each episode only once. I bow to your greater memory!)

Also: Is there a place to get either caps or a lot of season 2 icons? I'd love an icon of #5, or even better, love a cap so I can make one.

Hee. I am aware that my weirdly encyclopedic knowledge (at least of early BSG) is not the norm! As far as other people to add, well, Adama was also present! (Sharon and Helo were somewhere about, but I don't think they actually went into the tomb.) Actually I like the scene following that a lot too where they are all in the field and Lee and Kara figure out the constellations kind of tearily and everyone is full of wonder and amazement.

Hmmmmm. I feel like I cannot be as much help here as I would like to because I have been so far awar from active BSG fandoming that I have no real idea where to find caps (the ones I tend to spam and whatnot are actually just from stuff still sitting on my computer/webspace from YEARS ago). I was actually looking for icons myself just yesterday, but mostly by just checking where the BSG icons I have on my computer were from and then stalking those iconmakers.

I can say cartographies and call_me_daisy both have a fair amount of early BSG icons that I enjoy, but I don't know if they have any of what you want.
