Oh country week, when Simon is a grouchketeer. Why he persists in this when Carrie's made more money than any of them I'm not sure; usually the dollars move him.

Wow, they were really working the Saula tonight, weren't they? It's really nice to see Paula so lucid and spunky—it adds so much to the show.
  1. Michael, "Ain't Goin Down Til the Sun Comes Up." Didn't Dead Phil sing this song? It was a little low energy—I mean, Garth is always running around all over the place when he sings, and Sarver, not so much. Also, we hate talk-backers in this house.
  2. Allison, "Blame It On Your Heart." Wow, Paula actually gave her a really good note, and at least Simon recognized that. She picked an excellent song.
  3. Kris, "To Make You Feel My Love." That was a very smart choice of song and a smart performance. Kris has to get a little better at looking into the camera to get those votes—he can't hold the gaze for long without closing his eyes.
  4. Lil, "Independence Day." So we can all agree that it wasn't a great choice though she sang it well. Simon's need to call her "Little" is bizarre; I assume "Lil" is short for "Lillian."
  5. Adam, "Ring of Fire." [livejournal.com profile] ali_wildgoose would like you to know that she has listened to a lot of covers of this song and says, "lol." Apparently by the Doors. I think I'm going to have to stop really saying much about Adam, because I recognize that he's doing a thing, but I just cannot take that thing seriously. I didn't think it was horrific—but I was totally laughing. But I love that he amuses Ryan.
  6. Scott, "Wild Angels." Is it just me, or does every song he sings sound exactly the same? I really want to see the 1966 b-movie directed by Roger Corman and starring Peter Fonda, Nancy Sinatra, Bruce Dern and Diane Ladd: Their credo is VIOLENCE! Their god is HATE!.
  7. Alexis, "Jolene." First, I love this song. LOVE. I found their edit of the song to be really odd—more verse might have served her well. Randy was right that bending the song didn't really work for her.
  8. Danny, "Jesus Take the Wheel." What is going on with that collar? I'm starting to get the smarmy bullshit Taylor Hicks vibe from Danny which is unfortunate. Man, that verse was a mess. Chorus was good, but he seems tired—and it's way too early in the season to be tired.
  9. Anoop, "You're Always On My Mind." I am full of yay about this. He was fantastic.
  10. Megan, "Walkin' After Midnight." Well … I don't know. I really love this song, and she was just sort of odd? Though I get that she was sick, and I'm glad they said so, and I hope that people vote for her!
  11. Matt, "So Small." That was really fantastic. Definitely my favorite performance of the night.

[Poll #1367347]

I voted for Matt, Megan and Lil.

Adam made me laugh and laugh. As did Simon with his "Little" stuff. I assumed Lil was short for Lillian too, but it's still funny to imagine Simon incapable of the aggressive American accent implied by the L'il nickname.

Every Scott song sounds exactly the same, yes. Anoop was awesome. I liked Lil even though I didn't much like the song. Megan's was weird, but I think her flu improved it.

Yes, Scott does sound the same every week. World of meh. Country week is hard; I'm not sure who will be leaving us.

Also, my sister's comment on Adam was that he sounded like BSG. *g*

Yay for the return of Anooooooooooooop!

O INTERNET! My flist is already peppered with people complaining about Simon being homophobic and rejecting Adam's "performance" on those grounds. ONCE AGAIN USING UP ALL THE IRONY IN THE UNIVERSE, INTERNET!

I feel like I should give the kid another shot but that would require that I stop laughing long enough to actually listen to him.

Simon follows the money. Show me the openly gay pop star that is wildly successful. After all, he also told Kris he shouldn't have brought out the wife so early. It's the same thing.

I've half a mind to ask you to point me their way.

Anyway, I didn't think his vocal was very good, either. He was able to do what he wanted to do, but it wasn't something I wanted to listen to.

Simon's little stuff will never stop being funny. Seriously. If Ryan had a longer name, he would call Ryan by it, exclusively.

hahahahaha he does, though I actually don't like the regular BSG music much. LOVE all the Kara's father music, but not the actual theme song stuff. Anoop rules. I want him to just sit there quietly ruling for as long as possible.

Um... I regularly have to remind myself that he name is Lil and not Li'l. But I would never call her Little, even if she was going by L'il. That's just so missing the point and the rhythm of a good rap name.

So I almost didn't comment here because I was so grumpy. I hate hate hated this episode.

WTF is everyone talking back and then letting "America" know that if we keep them around, they will do X? Don't tell me you will eventually come out from behind the piano but I need to wait and see when Blindy. Almost every one of them had some cheesy shit like that to say.

During Danny's performance, my roommate (who was feeding her baby at the time) looked down at her child and said, "Don't listen to him sweetheart. Everybody knows Jesus doesn't even know how to drive a car."

Adam was laughable, and kinda made me feel yucky for watching him when he rubbed his thighs like that. It occurs to me that he is a HUGE geek with a very good ability to emulate cool... if he doesn't talk too much. Also his torso is disproportionately giant compared to his arms and legs.

Anoop was awesome.

I am in love with Allison.

Once again, Simon was right about EVERYthing, including the storm trooper jacket, Lil singing at a wedding, and Sarver's mumbling.

PS: I hate nothing more than when the judges give good criticism and Ryan asks if the person would change anything and they go, "No. I like that song."

Anoop for President.

The End

I read this aloud to Alison tonight while we watched the results because you are hilarious, as is your roommate.

Seriously, all of them except Anoop had something to say, and then Simon praised him for not bitching about last week, but taking their crit and doing something about it. It's a STFU moment, moron.

That Adam is a geek is what keeps me from hating him, and keeps me just not minding him. He's absurd. I know that version was Jeff Buckley's, I just didn't think he pulled it off.

Motown next week. Talk about singing at weddings.
