jlhwhen you talk about fic. We were discussing the "wife swapping" fic, which is H/H and D/G:
Clio: Fuck ME. *bangs head on keyboard* Why did I start writing this story, again?
Nancy: Um. Evil plot bunny?
Clio: As long as they aren't George, Martha, Nick and Honey, I should be okay.
Nancy: LOL
Nancy: could be like a parody.
Clio: no, no. I have much love for that play.
Clio: Though the problem is, if you did it.
Clio: It would be Draco / Hermione and Harry/Ginny
Clio: of course.
Nancy: NOOOOOOOOOOO
Clio: But it would. You can see that.
Clio: Harry is NOT George. Only Draco can be George
Nancy: I can but NOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Clio: Of course, it would mean that the immortal line "Him can't, him to fulla booze" would be applied to Harry, which is amusing.
Nancy: that is actually quite amusing.
Clio: yes. love that impotent!Harry.
Nancy: See? That's wrong!
Clio: And he would be all, hey, I'm a young stud muffin thing in a way that Draco wouldn't.
Clio: Draco is more about the "I'm way to smart for the room" world-weariness.
Nancy: totally.
Clio: And he could fight like cats with Hermione, which Harry really can't. Harry doesn't do subtext.
Nancy: no. and Draco is all about the subtext.
Clio: And Ginny can totally be the manipulative Honey.
Clio: Wow, Nancy. This would really work. I could never ever write it, but it would really work. Very AU, as they can't be the same ages. And no one does The Play About the Baby in high school.
Nancy: and I wonder why.
Clio: Ha! Gee, you think it's all the drinking and the smoking? The made-up child? The abortion?
Nancy: Gee. I can't imagine.
Nancy: I like the one about the booze.
Clio: Yeah. Liz Taylor really did that line some serious justice in the movie.
Clio: "Him CAAAN't! Him too fulla BOOOOOOOOOZE!"
Clio: My other favorite line is when Honey shouts out "Violence! Violence!"
Clio: I say that all the time, but no one knows what the fuck I'm talking about.
Nancy: Yes, great literary refs are often lost but if you quoted say, Jay and Silent Bob, everyone would get it.
