Any excuse to show Cyd and Gene
Jun. 18th, 2008 09:23 amI didn't post about it because there wasn't a whiskey tango foxtrot big enough for the shock, but RIP Tim Russert. You will be missed, especially in Buffalo.
I'm sure it seems to many of you that I'm not very geeky about movies because I'm not that familiar with geeky movies, but that's not true. I'm very geeky about the movies of my childhood, but they were old classic Hollywood comedies and musicals. So I was very sorry to hear that Cyd Charisse died yesterday—I'm sure they'll mention it this week on SYTYCD. Here's one of her many iconic moments, from the ballet in Singin' in the Rain (1952):
I used to pretend to do that leg thing with the hat all the time, I'm very sure to not nearly as good effect. If you want Cyd a little more recently, she comes into Janet Jackson's "Alright" video (1990) at about 2:55—the lady coming out of the boutique, in the red dress:
Not bad for 70, eh?
