So yesterday ali_wildgoose and I were talking about the end of Idol, because it has to end sometime, and that we want a proper "goodbye" at the end of that last show, not just the crowning of the final Idol. And then, of course, we started thinking about "So Long, Farewell" from The Sound of Music. And how there are seven Von Trapp children, and we're in season 7. And then—well, you know where this is headed.

In order:
Marta—Kelly
Friedrick—Ruben
Liesel—Jordin
Kurt—Fantasia
Brigitta—Carrie
Louisa—Taylor
Gretel—small David A.
And then Ruben comes back down and picks up David and carries him away.

Of course, Simon is the Captain, Randy is Uncle Max, Paula is the Baroness, and Ryan is Maria. Now I can't stop thinking about Simon and Ryan out by the river dancing the ländler, after which Paula chases Ryan out of the house and he gets counsel from Nigel (as the Mother Abbess) to go back and get his man, and then Simon and Ryan sing "Something Good."

It's upsetting. Kind of.

Wow.

I'm not sure whether to be frightened by this whole idea.....or the fact that I could kind of see it and it's playing as a movie in my head now.

(And seriously "So Long, Farewell" is like the most perfect AI goodbye song and it's so perfectly Jordin Sparks, I kind of want to hug it.)
