I just wanna bang on the drum all day
Nov. 20th, 2002 04:18 pmFirst, an RL note: for those of you that had to listen to me bitch about my horrible job, I have an interview on Tuesday so keep your fingers crossed.
I have also decided, due to ridiculous levels of anxiety (witnessed by
gehanna1) that I am putting off graduate school until fall 2004. So much in my life has changed, and I really should assimilate some of those changes before I run around making more.
So, real work. That is, writing work.
I finished a draft of the xmas cookie for the Muses, the one inspired by
ladylisse's picture of S&D in Santa hats, and sent it off to
misscora for a look-over.
From here until the end of the year, I'm writing nothing but smut. This includes:
--The wife swapping fic, which MUST BE COMPLETED. Thank you to
vanityfair for her input.
--Six Nights at the Hogsmeade Inn, which
eccentricfemme requested, to fill in what went on in the Inn during EWFS. The Neville/Susan portion of it will stand alone for Restricted Section and
altricial.
--Seamus & Dean's Shiny New Year, also requested by Femme.
--That Harry/Hermione thing I've been madly scribbling lately.
--Ron & Padma's Shiny New Year, also for
altricial. They will have a bit in Six Nights, but it won't be smutty enough (despite the presence of the bed) so this will be a bit more in the future.
Smut I won't be writing: SBRL for Christmas. Though, to be honest, I think of them so paternally that I couldn't have written good SBRL smut anyway. I had also toyed with making my P/O with sproglets short "Coming Home, Now" more explicit but I really like that final line so I think I shall leave it.
Meanwhile I'll be doing research and plot structure for the EWFS sequel that I hope to start writing in the new year. Thanks to
nmalfoy and
ivyblossom I'm getting really excited about it, though I'm also a little scared since it's more complex and more dark than EWFS. (No,
thezeppo, not that dark.) But, that's what it's all about, right? Being a little scared?
The big question is: Who wants to beta the smut? The always-wonderful
thalialuna isn't so much about the smut, thanks, so I'm looking for someone to beat me about the head regarding punctuation, who isn't afraid to say "but where is his other hand?" and who is squicked by neither het nor slash nor femslash. A tall order, I know, but I'd rather have just one or two smut betas than thirty different people floating around.
Speaking of which:
johnwalton, where are you?

Date: 2002-11-20 03:06 pm (UTC)There is naught wrong with that anyway and certainly nothing unkewl. You're the coolest, and you have plenty of company in the "no smut, please" camp. Besides, Femme is at the other extreme. How could you be twins if you didn't balance each other out?
I hope you'll feel comfortable reading them once they're up, though. ^_^

Date: 2002-11-20 06:00 pm (UTC)Am very good with tone/voice/style stuff, good at s/p/g, and I pay close attention, I really do. However, am not exactly experienced so I can't say if something's too out there.
*hugs* either way, cause you deserve them.

Date: 2002-11-21 09:46 am (UTC)Although, we went to see the hot priest movie (http://www.moviefone.com/showtimes/movie.adp?movieid=13617&date=20021121) last night, and at the beginning he's on a bus sitting next to an old man who is talking about how he sold his farm and is going to start a store with his son, and then some bandits come on the bus and take all the old man's money, and I'm still upset about it. Ruined the entire beginning of the film for me.
I think it's that sort of stuff--the downer stuff that seems to happen for no reason except to add "color" or "depth" or "darkness", or the stories that are all about death, or the ones where everything just keeps getting worse and worse and there's no reason to think they will get better, that I have a problem with. We saw a preview (http://us.imdb.com/Title?0302674) last night, and I thought, "I have no desire whatsoever to see Casey Affleck and Matt Damon die in the desert."

Re:

Gah! Silly liberal arts education. :)
