Happiness Is …

So, it's been a trying morning and I have to do some difficult things this afternoon. Thank goodness there's a calloocallay at the end of it.

Anyway, the whole venting-getting hugs thing doesn't really work for me. (I'm not saying it's bad, just that venting only makes me feel more worked up and online *hugs* responses make me feel itchy.) So as I did once before, and it seemed to work, I'm asking for something different:

Tell me something awesome that happened to you. Big or small, just something that made you smile or pleased you recently. My cat, Veda, is laying in a little square of sun on the floor, and she's facing into the sun with her eyes closed which I always think is adorable.

Last night we got a new toilet seat (http://www.amazon.com/Trendykid-FS002-Family-Seat-White/dp/B000FBIXBC/) for the kids' bathroom, and it's fantastic and A LOVED IT and was so proud. Her little bottom just falls right through the adult sized ones and her old plastic one was just vile. Working hard on getting the house up to speed, but it's getting nicer, bit by tiny little bit. :D

So, I'm in a Spanish conversation class, and I was totally freaking out about this class before the semester started because speaking is my weakest point, but seeing as I'm a Spanish minor who wants to study abroad in Spain, I knew I needed to hone my speaking skills. So the class has been going well, I'm enjoying it a lot more than I thought I would, but we had our test today and I was pretty nervous, but....

I got an A, and she told me that I "speak wonderfully", and that I'm "always entertaining". Squee!

So yes. I've been walking around smiling all day. :)

My writing partner and I finally heard back from the publisher we sent an outline to. They said "congratulations" and want a proposal.

I brought home a new carrier, because Random and Marvin go to the vet tomorrow, and Random is currently sitting in said carrier, happy as a clam, making little "chirrup!" noises.

And earlier, when I went downstairs to get a drink, Marvin was perched on the top of the cat tree and offered me a little "mrrow?" as I went by, with his usual bewildered and slightly mischievous expression.

Finally, is a grey cat asleep on my foot. Snoring.

I bought myself a nice hand dyed leather, magnetic closure business card case the other day. It is bright red, so I do not lose it in the bottom of my purse. It is so soft to the touch and I no longer lose my business cards, so yay!

I went to Wave Hill today and the flowers and trees are all still blooming and beautiful. I sat out on the terrace and had an iced coffee and read for an hour. Nicest, most peaceful hour I've had in a while.

I now have the soundtrack for The Pirate Movie. It's not quite as good bad um, goodbad as Xanadu, but it makes me happy.

I heard AC/DC's "Big Balls" on the radio yesterday. While I'm a big fan of theirs it's not a song I play often, but it always puts a big smile on my face.

I love this weather. I walked about six miles today and the light was just lovely, and grocery stores are starting to carry those miniature pumpkins and bags of apples that mean it is really Fall.
