The seriously awesome thing about the group of people that I know in this city is that when I went out last night to a fetish club with my pal Ruby I ran into …
bhanesidhe's sister, who hadn't met Ruby though her daughter had.
For those of you who listened to my wibbling about my outfit, I wore the boots and a short black skirt that has an oversized zipper up the side, and a tank top that has a pink underneath and a gauzy black layer on the top, and is gathered at the breast to make a sort of empire waist; I wear that top all the time so a lot of you have seen it. Oh, and a push up bra. I mean, I was going to a fetish club, so you know, when you're around women in corsets a low cut tank top and a push up bra really isn't that much boob. Also the tank is sort of drapey, which I really wanted because the skirt was very straight so with the other tops I was trying it wasn't flattering; the tank cut in nicely at my waist and flared out to sit on my hips. And my wee black bag whose little strap fits right around my shoulder so I can dance with it tucked under my arm. Though as Ruby knew the DJ we mostly left our bags next to him. Anyway, it was enough to qualify for the $5 cover. Ruby was wearing a purple pageboy wig and a purple sort of jerkin with zippers with a black slip underneath, and awesome textured fishnets and boots. She looked amazing; you know you're gorgeous when you can rock a purple wig.
It was sooooo hot getting downtown that I really had no desire to drink so while Ruby was slurping vodka redbulls I was sucking down club sodas like there was no tomorrow. However, they DID have kamakazi shots which I ADORE. The nice thing is, drinking three kamakazi shots during the course of one evening really does not give you a hangover the next day. The crowd was awesome, the music even better; my favorite song was This Is Miami, except at the end said, "This … is … NEW YORK" and everyone went "Wooooo!" The boots held up all night and are really very comfortable, especially since I hate shoes to begin with.
We stayed out until 3:30, which I think was perfectly respectable, and then I came home and watched TV and had something to eat because I was too wired to go to bed. So I'm not sure how much I actually slept. Though I did get a disco "nap" which involved turning off all the lights, getting into bed, and watching some of Seven Samurai. The Magnificent Seven is one of my favorite movies so it's really fascinating seeing how it evolved from Seven Samurai. But more on that later.
Meanwhile, could it be hotter today? Yuck!

"The Seven Samurai"! What an awesome movie. Waybackwhen, I watched the television series "The Magnificent Sever," then watched the "Magnificent Seven" movie upon which it was based, and then found out that the whole shebang was based on the "Seven Samurai." Good stuff.
