First, thanks to everyone who responded to my pleading for comments on that race post. I will endeavor not to be quite so passive aggressive in the future, and I'm working on how to further conversation rather than just being didactic; trust me, in my RL I get plenty of time playing teacher so I don't need to do it here.

I wrote something yesterday that now I'm feeling very ugly about, which is mostly just the evil over-perfectionism rearing its ugly head, but what's done is done and it was sent to [livejournal.com profile] dana_kujan at a rather early stage with misgivings in the header and so we'll see if it indeed sucks so very much. I don't think it's totally horrid, and it's a very tricky piece on a tricky subject, so we'll see if we can rescue the thing from mediocrity.

So anyway because of the things I've posted recently I wanted to make it easy for folks to find my stories which with only a couple of exceptions are on LJ someplace. You can sort of find them with tags, and I can fix the tags to make it even easier, but I have also been experimenting with del.icio.us and wondering about a post where I could put everything. Right now in my links list there are links to the external places my fics can be found, that being Fiction Alley and Restricted Section, but of course that's only for the HP fics and I've been writing a ton of AI RPS of late.[Poll #1008773]

How's your Saturday?

I meant to comment on your big post yesterday but either my browser was being stupid or I had to do actual work (at work *cough*) and didn't comment and now I forgot :( But I do read your discussions on that topic and find them interesting. My daughter is ethnically about 75% Latina (one grandfather is a Texas Anglo), but she's relatively fair, with hazel eyes and medium brown hair and golden-brown skin only in summer. And culturally she's about as white as we are, as the Latino community here was fairly small when she was a baby and we never hooked into it, and now that it's much larger we don't know where to begin to make that up to her and she doesn't seem to care one way or another. *sigh* So yeah, we probably effed up but like most parents we did the best we could.

Well, you know, I was cross-racially adopted, and in Maine which doesn't have much of a black population now, never mind in the 70s when I was a kid, so my parents really just brought me up in their own culture. And I've found, with most of my friends, that they work out their own relationship to race when they're in high school and college, bumping up against other people, and make up their own minds about how assimilationist or not they really want to be. So I wouldn't worry about it too awfully much. Other things are more important, perhaps keeping that channel open and knowing how to hook her in should she care about it later. I mean, what I got really from my parents was a really firm hold in my native Maine heritage, as it's one of those states that really has its own culture that is rather insular, and I am just as much a native Mainer (born in Portland thanks much) as I am anything else.

Now, now. I'm sure it's fine.

We have a lot of family obligations today-- between them at the moment-- but I should be able to get feedback to you by midnight. (Or may I turn into a pumpkin!)

Please, don't coddle my rampant perfectionism—I'm sure it doesn't suck, and I must stop viciously second-guessing myself. It is getting in the way of many things. It's like I've become super!Virgo and my superego must STFU.

I am out to a graduation party this evening and at the MoCCA Art Fest tomorrow for much of the day anyway, so seriously, no rushing.

I like the subtle dyk in that icon. Is it that his hands are large or that his head is tiny?

Similar to one of your choices... but I have a "my fanfic" tag that I put on any fanfic. If I start writing multiple fandoms (pretty likely by the end of summer) they'll still all get that tag, although I'll likely also start "HP fanfic and SW fanfic tags at that point. Point being... no matter how much fic I end up doing, EVERYTHING will be tagged "my fanfic" so it can be sorted out pretty quick (drabbles, one-shots and chaptered fics all included).

What I ended up doing is similar, tags for each canon (HP, Idol and 'other') and then tags for each pairing (because I only write ship fic) and putting a star in front of them so they floated to the top of my tag list. So a story would say: *story canon: harry potter, *story: harry/hermione or, *story canon: idol, *story canon: ryan/simon.

So thank you, your suggestion really helped!

I like the * idea... I might steal that one next time I redo my tags. So... thank YOU!
