Ah the finale. The show I never watch live because it's so packed chock full of assorted bullshit.

00:00 Why is Blake wearing a shirt with a ruffle? Is this 1972 and I just didn't notice?
00:01 When will Ryan learn that he should unbutton his motherfucking jacket?
00:02 What the hell is Randy wearing? Did he join the rhythm nation?
00:03 Aww, the Beatles are the theme of the night. They're fantastic but I'm still disturbed by the ruffle. The kiss couldn't be cuter, though.
00:05 Gwen! [livejournal.com profile] ali_wildgoose points out that her dress, a deconstructed kimono, has an authentic use of the obi.
00:13 Kelly and the boots! OMG! I love that Kelly has a figure of a regular thin girl, rather than a model or something. She also sounds completely fantastic.
00:21 Aww, the boys in white suits. I still hate Sanjaya and have no time for Sligh, but I didn't realize just how much I missed Chris until I saw this.
00:22 Smokey is still hitting the botox pretty hard, I see. Still in amazing voice though.
00:24 Wow, even Sligh dances better than Sanjaya.
00:31 OMFG Doug E Fresh in da house!!!!! That was seriously one of my favorite Idol moments ever. For reals. Everyone who doesn't get Blake better get him now because he worked it OUT.
00:38 What a stunning collection of unflattering white dresses, and then Gladys didn't look particularly good, either. However, the medley was pretty sweet. I love how Jordin can lose her shit but still not miss her cue.
00:46 Hahahaha, Constantine eyefuck.
00:47 I don't care what Jacob says, I love me some Tony Bennett.
00:52 "You don't have an Emmy, and you don't have one of these, either." A totally typical new Rymon moment to cap off our little retrospective. I love them.
00:54 BeBe and CeCe! I haven't seen them in years and CeCe doesn't look like she's aged a day. What a lovely thing for Melinda to sing with the people she used to sing backup for.
01:01 Aww, commercial retrospective.
01:02 While I understand why she chose this song, I can't help but wish that Carrie had sung the new single about how if you cheat again I'll key your car.
01:05 I'm not sure why we needed to sit through a state of the company speech about the Idol franchise. That was a really weird thing to air. Also, I'm sure that Simon also looks just that bored in corporate meetings, however much he clearly respects Clive.
01:15 Kids singing and dancing are always adorable.
01:18 Whatever, Sanjaya.
01:21 Billie Joe says: this is what a REAL punk is like, Sanjaya.
01:30 Whatever, Taylor.
01:34 Once again I fear for Jordin's career. Blake gets the whole place on their feet beatboxing, and Jordin is singing ancient Motown songs with Ruben. I'm just sayin'.
01:41 Why did Bette suck? She sounded horrible! I mean, I hate this song, so whatever, but she sounded like ass.
01:44 Okay, so Randy is dancing with Paula, which is adorable, and you can see Ryan standing behind them, and Simon standing just barely in the right side of the shot, behind them. (And here I'll say, I can't wait to download this, because it will be in high def, and therefore wider.) Ryan is watching Paula and Randy, and then he turns to Simon, who turns to him, and they share this look that I dare not categorize, but omg, I had to watch it 35 times.
01:45 What I didn't need to see even once: Bette making Springer cry.
01:50 I'll have more to say about Sgt. Pepper another time, but it's a good album to do a medley from. Kelly certainly had the right song.
01:52 I'm not sure Taylor's pick could stand up to what he chose to do to it.
01:53 I have a personal connection to "She's Leaving Home" so I'm pleased Carrie is singing it. She looks like she's eaten a sandwich sing the last time she was on Idol, too.
01:56 Oh Ruben. Could have done without the faux psychedelic lights that as Ali pointed out just looked like an iTunes visualizer.
01:57 LOVE Blake's Pepper jacket.

And then Jordin won, and she cried, and it was good, seriously. I'm happy for her. I will be buying Blake's album, and very likely Chris's and Melinda's.

I'm so sad, you guys, that another season is over. No more Rymon for us to pore through, except the occasional appearance on Ryan's radio show or something. There will be more drabbles and a couple of longer fics to finish up, but thanks to everyone, especially the new buddies I made through the massive, massive Rymon that was this season. Sob!

*waves a sad goodbye to this year's Rymon* I love that Ryan's concentration was briefly broken by the montage of him and Simon and he just smiled and kind of giggled...and oh. My boys. :(

It's been an awesome season, with awesome friends I made through Rymon, and awesome fics (I look forward to more!).

And yay for my Jordin. Woo.

Bette drove me into a mental breakdown. I was incoherently freaking out and my friends had to get me a glass of water.

*sigh* The Rymon love is so true and undeniable it isn't even funny anymore.

It's been fun, though, this season. I hope there's lots more next season, too. Your drabbles have helped get me through those pesky Thursday-Mondays. :-)

We tried to watch and were scared away by that women sitting on Ryan like a yellow feathered succubus and then had to turn off the TV until 10pm. I never watched any Idol before. All your squeeing got to me! *g*

I think I was being distracted by the people I was watching with at this point, because I COMPLETELY MISSED THIS. My soul weeps a little bit. And yet the fact that it happened brings me indescribable joy.

And, oh, man, this season was so fantastic. What are we going to do without the Rymon??

First, it is one of my all-time least favorite songs because it's so damned condescending and also lite-fm. Second, we get to hear it at what, every commencement? and then Third, she sucked.

I have to say, the finale show is not the place to start because it really is so full of bullshit that I ff through half of it. The performance shows are a ton more fun and straight forward.

I put it up on my LJ so I hope you got to see it.

What are we going to do without the Rymon??

Well, one thing to be thankful for is that we will get it back, unlike the singerslashers. And there's always clips to just get us through for a while. I mean, if Lord Peter could live six months off of a belated notice in Punch

Aww, thanks sweetie! Thinking up the drabbles got ME through the week, because I had those two talking in my head all the time.

They got so much press off it, I certainly hope there IS more.

Any time Ryan giggles is a good time.

I think I have had more fun this year with Rymon than any other year and it's totally because of you guys! So excellent!

Oh no, I meant we watched on and off all season from the start. We didn't see every show, but we saw most of them and it was nice to read your commentary and know what it was all about. It was interesting. Music used to be such a huge part of my life when I was a DJ, the music director for a station, and in music marketing. The business was full of skeevy people and I quickly got out and ran for academia.

And yes the Rymon thing is hilarious.
