The music post I didn't make
Apr. 26th, 2007 11:48 amI know, I'm so mid-week spammy. Well, today is like my Saturday—the way my teaching and class schedule goes, my week sort of starts on Fridays and ends on Wednesday. But more of you are reading than do on the weekend, so there you go. Tuesday, though, I was in the library at school doing some things online so I wandered over to vh1.com, and in their list of top 10 videos were three former Idol singers (Daughtry, Carrie and McPhee). Good lord!
That's where I heard the new Maroon 5 single, "Makes Me Wonder" and was immediately hooked, in that way where you just want to put one song on repeat all day long and learn how to sing it. Or maybe I'm the only person who does that. Anyway, if you go to iTunes, you can pre-order the album, AND get the single now, AND get two bonus tracks when the album comes out, AND get a special code to get concert tix when they go on sale, all for $10! So I've just purchased my very first online album.
I need to remember to pick up the new Aqualung and the Elliott Yamin, like, eventually. I'm on the fence about Kat McPhee, though that single is really quite good and I predict she'll be successful. After all, the only reason she lost was her collapse in the stretch—by the group of 4 she was falling apart.
I was reminded by
boniblithe to check out the Idol group of 6 playlists on iTunes. I'm sort of unsurprised that Blake's is my hands-down favorite, not only for the songs he chooses (Fiona Apple! Elliott Smith! Imogen Heap! Duncan Sheik! Jill Scott! Seattle support!) but also for his comments on said songs. It makes me come very close to forgiving him for the 311 love. He's so thoughtful; I'm really looking forward to seeing what he'll do when set loose in the studio.
I'm also not surprised that Melinda and LaKisha's playlists are full of gospel, or that Phil's is full of tepid midtempo MOR, or that Jordin's is sort of all over the place. But I was surprised at how interesting Chris's playlist was. I'm predicting that the Chris-Blake duet on the Idol tour will be Drive, by Incubus.
And in July? NEW CROWDED HOUSE, YO!!!!

Date: 2007-04-26 07:55 pm (UTC)I'm off to dl the maroon 5 album! I'm seeing them open for The Police this summer and I'm cheerful about it! But I should probably get an album of theirs first.
