National Coming Out Day. Well, as many of you know, I'm actually a boring straight girl. (Who, by the way, has absolutely no desire to reclaim the word "breeder". I am good for more than that, thanks.) So what I do have to say to those of you who have, or are planning to have, children: Raise them around your gay friends. That's what my sainted mother did, and I grew up to be a nice little fag hag just like dear old mom, whose general reaction to people coming out to her is, "And?"

Much love to my very first fag, my wonderful uncle who came out in 1976 (damn) and is living into happy old age with his partner of 25 years. And to friends: to my high school friend "Handsome Jeff" who is sadly no longer with us, to P and D and JR and J, and to all the pretty boys and girls around here.

Beta Appreciation. First and foremost, to [livejournal.com profile] thalialuna. Without her, EWFS would be unreadable, with pointless sideplots, no description whatsoever, and far too many commas. She holds my hand when I think the whole thing isn't worth the paper it isn't printed on, and was the first person to fall in love with the writing. I cannot say enough good things about Luna. Check out her own writing on ff.net and cheer her as I do. She is amazing.

Also, to [livejournal.com profile] raymarie. Whatever may have happened later, EWFS would not be what it is without her early championing of the story, and her beta-work was very helpful indeed. Thank you.

My twin [livejournal.com profile] ely709 sees everything, betas the short works, and should be writing herself. She and [livejournal.com profile] eccentricfemme were instrumental in the initial outlining of the fic, and I am honored to share a fictional universe with her.

[livejournal.com profile] eccentricfemme is such an appreciative reader, but also one with high standards. She has an amazing sense of what will and won't work, and I attempt to pay her back with smut. (I promise, the wife-swapping thing!) She has never steered me wrong, not once.

[livejournal.com profile] fiatincantatum is the one who came up with the concept of "alpha readers" and her help on the later plotting of the story . . . well, let's just say that Seamus and Dean would never have quite gotten together without her assistance.

My partner in Seamus/Dean-ness, [livejournal.com profile] misscora. I am honored that she is willing to share FL&L with me, and to have really stepped in for the later chapters of EWFS.

[livejournal.com profile] johnwalton is proof that you should be careful what you ask for; he wanted to Brit-pick and I said, "great!" As there are a couple of changes that need to be made to the early chapters, expect them to get the same expert Brit-picking and catching-of-late-errors that recent ones have.

Yep, I am an irritatingly insecure writer who basically needs a cast of thousands to get the thing done. If you've been enjoying EWFS, or one of the shorts, go spam them.

Hey, thanks for the appreciation. You have no idea what that means to me right now. Would EWFS have been what it is without me? YES, because it's easy to edit and be constructively critical but it's damn hard to write the thing and breathe life into those characters - particularly in such a fresh, original and hip style. It's YOU that makes EWFS such a great and original story but thanks for the appreciation anyway :D

::glomps:: I needed to hear something like that. We must organise a weekend muses chat soon....

*blushes* Aww - thanks love. And for the record, you are the one who does all the work - I just sit here and consume it like a ravening beast :). And as for smut, I believe I asked for something in the D/S 'missing scene' variety. . . ^_^

ever demanding of high quality smut :-D

Honored to be included in your friends-who-are-gay list! *blush, bounce*

I will not go spam all these wonderful people right now, but I will as the occasion arises (maybe when I review their own fics?). I appreciate the hell out of EWFS as you know, and I think the collaborative nature of what people do in this fandom is one of THE most exciting things going on here. (Having said that, however, each piece does need a passionate Author, point person, organizer, to whose judgement it all comes down to eventually, so don't forget to glomp yourself! Sounds painful but I assure you that with practice it gets easier.)

See you on the lists! eqstatically / eq
