Who should be reading about the New Deal? Yeah. Instead I watched yet another lackluster episode of American Idol, plus Project Runway. The only thing I have to say about Project Runway is that that last twist was really just sort of dumb.

Ryan has the biggest crush on Ace. It's too funny. The whole thing with the beanie was so "I just want to touch you!" You know that he really wanted to keep that beanie the way he was twirling it on his hand and thinking, "I'm not going to look in his eyes, I'm not going to look in his eyes." The whole Ryan/Simon thing is like, the continuing saaaaaga (not unlike Veterinarian's Hospital) but Ryan's crush on Ace really pleases me. This may be because I have a crush right now, myself, so seeing Ryan have to deal with it on live TV in front of millions of people while not only not letting anyone see that but see his orientation makes me feel a ton better.

Also, when they broke for commercial after Elliott sang and Ace and Gedeon smiled at the camera was anyone else blinded? Okay, on to the performances:
  1. I have to say, I would have bet money that Taylor would sing "Easy" by the Commodores at some point. Yes, that's right, easy like Sunday morning. I'm willing to do some side bets on when he gets to the Michael McDonald. I just wish he'd stop with the "woo!" I mean, is that a tic or something? I want to like Taylor but he's just too much of a distracting mess of mannerisms for me to be able to.
  2. Elliott was awesome. Just, completely awesome.
  3. Oh, Ace, that verse was pretty weak. I mean, what a pitchy mess. But you're a cutie so everyone will vote for you. Shape up.
  4. I would like Gedeon to sing a song written after he was born. Hell, I would like Gedeon to sing a song written after I was born. I mean, he sounds great, but there's nothing there to relate to and there is plenty of neo soul to pick from. Make the band learn an Anthony Hamilton song or something, sheesh.
  5. Kevin upsets me. I mean, I want to like him because he's so geeky cute but he's just a little too awkward and I feel he should like, be home working his shit out and then starting an emo band in college. "I Heard It Through the Grapevine" was great but it's like a weird joke.
  6. Okay, "Overjoyed" is a tough song to sing because the intervals are really weird and he did pretty well. But Sway didn't connect, as Paula said.
  7. I feel Will Makar needs to go to Broadway. Why was he singing behind the beat like that? "Lady" isn't exactly bebop, honey. Why Ryan was undressing you, however, I'm not sure.
  8. "Thunder Rolls"? Seriously? And you added exactly what to that song? Also Bucky, boys should not wear ponytails that high up their head; you looked like a demented Barbie doll.
  9. Oh, David, just stop. Honestly, I mean it. Stop with the Sinatra or the fake Sinatra or the whatever the hell. "The Way You Look Tonight" is a wedding song. It's a beautiful, classic wedding song, but you like, I mean, christ. I'm sort of speechless. At least the infamous John was doing Sinatra while you, sir, are doing someone else doing Sinatra.
  10. Chris ruled me. I mean, that was just awesome. He is so already there. He is also the only one I'd even think about getting with, though I'm hearing that all over my flist!

I have no idea who will be out. Maybe Sway, maybe David. Possibly Will or Taylor.

Nooo! I hope Taylor isn't out. He didn't do that well tonight, but I really think he can step it up.

Our commentaries look similar. I love your observations of Ryan, though. He is so out of control! I'm not sure why he was undressing Will. He's still in high school for crying out loud! It was amusing.

Our commentaries totally look similar. When Ryan was undressing Will I loved how all the judges were like, "Ryan!" That was awesome; he's so rarely out of control. Maybe his hormones were still on overload from the encounter with Ace.

I will be really surprised if Taylor is out because it was a perfectly nice song, just not memorable. I felt that it was inevitable that he would sing that song, as Randy said. But he needs to like, do something else.

Dumb, mean, and EVIL. I mean, like they aren't already under enough stress? Please! If they're going to give the three that sort of challenge with that amount of time, then at least give them the entire cast to divide among themselves because there's just too damn much going on to pull shit like that.

And poor Chloe was crying! It was just sadistic. Also as Santino said, whee, they'll have 12 really finised looks and then one that they made shoddily the night before. I'm not sure what the point of that is. I mean, in the real world do designers decide that they need to make a new dress at the last minute because one isn't working? Yes, and they have entire studios of workers there to help them! Which gets back to your entire cast point--I think they should have got more than one helper.

Meanwhile, lame of the producers to (A) not allude to the fact that Kara is making a decoy collection even if she can't win and therefore (B) Chloe couldn't have chosen her to help; it would have been mean. And she wouldn't have chosen Emmett because he isn't a great sewer of women's wear and he can't really help her concept because it's her collection. So that was dumb, that little bit of tension before she picked.

But maybe that was because we knew that Dan would pick Nick, and we knew that Santino would pick Andrae. And all that happened after the reunion show was taped!

The twist on PR just seemed cruel. What did you think about Santino with children crawling all over him?

You know, I think how you act with your peeps isn't indicative of how you act with strangers, and he still has no class. I mean, fucking rise above the bullshit, Santino. Stop being mean to people you don't know. I think he learned a lesson, though, about talking about people when he doesn't know the situation. Sure, he meant what he said, but he needs to think before opening his mouth. I want to say it's immaturity but the man is 30.

Twist was totally cruel and unnecessary. I'm relatively unimpressed with the producers this season.

I was interested in the interview with Santino on the bravo site and the bit in the show when Santino admitted that he acts like an ass because he is so full of self doubt. It doesn't make up for him acting like sociopath, but it was interesting.

Did you like those handbags of Daniel's? I really hated them.
