Bad night, pretty good morning
Feb. 10th, 2006 10:18 amLast night around midnight my connection decided to fail entirely while I was talking to
ely709. Luckily she has a cell phone.
I decided after a few restarts-in-vain to just give up the ghost and go to bed, but alas for me, my neighbor decided to play Elton John very loudly. I knocked on the wall and even knocked on his door, to no avail. Earplugs don't really work when most of what you're hearing is the vibration.
Then, having been previously somewhat freaked out by the open front door and my foiling her trying to sneak out, the cat came flying up on the bed to attack me, something she hasn't done in over a year. She's been rather naughty in private lately, picking up some old habits, so I shut her in the bathroom for an hour to calm her down. (She must have been very hyper because she didn't meow or scratch at all.) Must remember to get more Rescue Remedy.
So I gave up on everyone and turned on the TV and watched some competitive ballroom dancing thing on PBS. At 1:45am my connection finally came back. At 2am the music finally stopped. At 2:15am I let a now-docile Veda out of the bathroom. At 2:30am I turned out my light and tried again.
This morning, however, I got my DVD player working again! So that's pretty awesome. And since Friday is Errand Day I'm going to the library and to Radio Shack or something to get a cord so I can move my wireless modem and maybe all this crappy connection will finally go away!
