Joss Stone and Rob Thomas singing "Stop Draggin My Heart Around" will not make me want to give money to the relief effort. I'm just sayin'.

Meanwhile, I think that everyone who plans on seeing Brokeback Mountain needs to go to the bookstore, find the E. Annie Proulx book with the story, sit down and read it. It's a short story so it won't take you long. It's almost breathtaking in its beauty so it won't "spoil" the movie for you. And that way you'll know what you're getting into.

I'm really looking forward to new Veronica Mars and CSI, and to seeing what shows folks seize on this year.

I'd love reqs on fluffy, romantic or fluffy/romantic fics in the following pairings: H/H, D/G, R/S, Seamus/Dean, James/Lily if anyone has some.

Tomorrow I will endeavour to do more than I did today.

I thought that short story was really good, and it was pretty interesting to read too.

I actually stumbled upon a link for the book while I was looking at something else on Amazon last night, but the link sent me to an old edition which implied that the book was no longer in print and that the rare used copies could only be found for $50 or so - I didn't realize it WAS still for sale! I did another search this morning and now I see it (although $10 for a story that short is pissing me off).

Well, I actually meant that you should find it in the store and read it in the store, not buy it, as for once Proulx will have some money, having made it off the option. That said, if what you found was Close Range: Wyoming Stories, it has about ten stories in it and Proulx is a totally amazing writer, so I'm thinking it's worth the $10 for the other stories as well.

The text of the story used to be on bn.com, but that was when the film was still in production and they've since taken it down. (That's how CC read it; I found the link and shoved it in her face, basically.) You could also try to find it in the library, or if you have a library that has back issues of the New Yorker it was in an October 1997 edition though actually I'm fairly sure she changed the ending from the one that was in The New Yorker when she published the story later.

Ely linked me to the text a few weeks ago before I even really knew that there was a movie being made, and *guh*. So good! As I told her then, if done right it would be one hell of a movie, and I'm somewhat pleased to see it did so well in Venice. I might actually have to go see it now! And, er, if anyone is having trouble finding a copy, I have what Ely linked me to copied to gmail. *shifty* I'm no averse to sharing with friends. */shifty*
