(no subject)
Jul. 13th, 2002 08:50 amI haven't posted for a while, so this is going to be one of those all-over-the-place posts. First, and most importantly, Chapter 5 of EWFS is up. It's really not bad. I'm happy with it, anyway.
Some non-HP:
One thing I love about this country is that no matter what you've done, no one can make you talk. It's in the Bill of Rights: "No person . . . shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself . . . ." Hence, the scene of endless executives coming before Congressional committees, making self-serving speeches, then taking the 5th. I am reminded of my true ambition in life: to be an unindicted co-conspirator. Hey, if RMN could do it, so can I!
What happened at the All Star Game? This can't be a good omen, either for my Fenway boys or for the looming strike. Damn that anti-trust exemption!
That said, on to the HP:
Why, exactly, does a minor slash ship make me so happy, and why do I feel so self-conscious about it? Why did
theirishwonder's reply to
deanthomas have me dancing in my apartment? We are definitely the little ship that could. We're sweet, but we're not annoying. We're like black--we go with everything. Speaking of which, the beloved Miss Cora is back in the US, which means not only 3-4 more chapters of Friendship, Loyalty & Love but also a possible sequel to Chocolate Sin. I have the beta in my hot little hands. Jealous? You should be.
As for me, I have to clean out the small stuff:
1. Finish up that Percy/Oliver--thank you, darling Ely! She even titled it! This thing is bound for AT. Promise.
2. Get that present for
johnwalton in shape to go to a beta.
3. Write that Swing Time fic in the EWFS universe that's been floating around my head.
4. Revise "I'm Weary." Usually, my writing pattern is: write, revise, set aside, revise, send to alphas, revise, send to betas, revise, show to alphas again, tweak, post. This is why I'm always working on several chapters at once. I'm Weary was: write, revise, send to Femme who did a speedy beta and shouted at me to post it, post on SBRL. However, now it appears that the thing is going to live in
ballyharnon's archive. Which is fine, but it's not my best work, and I'd rather it were better. (There's a scene change in the middle where you can hear the gears grinding.)
5. Never mind doing some serious remedial work on ch 7 of EWFS.
Many apologies to everyone I owe reviews:
ballyharnon,
vanityfair,
raymarie. I'm also 46 Chapter Owls behind. I am never going to be a Niffler. le sigh.
