Thanks everyone for your bday wishes! I'll be thanking you personally shortly but I've been running around a bit the past week or so. I had a very lovely day with the lovable [livejournal.com profile] weatherby which included a Heath Bar Sundae at Friendly's so really, ain't nothin' wrong wit dat.

I loved it from the first episode; I loved it when it lost its way a little bit in the third season; I tried to remain positive after that horrid carjack episode with Jimmy Fellon aka Hoodie the Hood. At various points it was probably my favorite show on television. And the ending, oh my how it did not disappoint.

I didn't cry the first time I saw it, but I teared up a little bit just now seeing it again, predictably at that moment just before David died when he looked up and saw Keith playing football, because my God he was beautiful, and not just because OMG so hot but of course because David did love him so. The Ongoing Saga of David and Keith was what kept me coming back to this show and for it to have an ending like that just made me so happy. (I was even satisfied with Keith's death; I think he would have wanted to die with his boots on so to speak, and at least it was by some very professional looking types and not some dumb speed freak.)

You must read the obits at hbo.com if you haven't already. Brenda! Claire! Such lives! Also, check out Alan Ball's interview on Fresh Air yesterday. There are also links to a whole bunch of interviews with the other cast members.

I know there are some who feel that some of the storylines were resolved a bit too pat for their tastes but I was fine with it. Enough with Hoodie the Hood already, thanks, and Brenda was bound to make her peace with Nate since she always did have his number. Ruth always was happiest when with the ladies in the canyon; I'm so glad she realized that too.

I look forward to seeing what all these creative people do next!

And now to bed, because tomorrow is my school orientation and eek!
