Am grouchily in the evil place. (Not to be confused with The Bad Place.) Re-read LUW12 and MPI4 on the plane and wrote reviews which I'll post in a bit. Have David's fic in my bag for plane ride back, though will review another chapter tonight.

In other words, slowly moving through the H/D of People I Already Know, which is all the H/D I can handle at present.

1. Your live journal "user name" & what it means:
Well, I'm very not interested in explaining the actual journal name, except that it's very convenient for signing emails as it is all right-hand home row. Also, it's my username at Fiction Alley.

However, Clio I chose as my Muse name. When I was in the early planning stages of my fic, I would go on and on in chat to [livejournal.com profile] ely709 and [livejournal.com profile] eccentricfemme. (As would Ely, actually. Just you wait for that fic!) We decided we were each other's muses, and the name stuck. I'm Clio, muse of history. Very appropriate, as I was a history major in college and plan to go back to grad school in history very soon.

2. On a scale of 1-10 (10 being the highest) how well does your livejournal represent who you actually are?
I honestly have no idea. I didn't have a sense of how I come across until I started to meet people from LJ. I guess a 6? I talk about some personal things but not many of them. I am not so much projecting a persona as disguising some things I don't think are relevant. However, I think you all have a sense of how silly and/or pathetic I can be, and hopefully how thoughtful, so maybe it's accurate after all.

3. How much about your life do you post to lj?
I'm trying to work that out these days. I think I have the balance nearly right. Some things. Not others. I don't lie. When I choose to talk about something, I generally tell the whole truth. But some things are locked to friends and some things I don't share at all.

4. Is there anything you refuse to post about?
Yes. Very deeply personal things. Some of which I have posted about in limited friends posts in order to make a specific point.

5. On a scale of 1-10 how interesting do you think your own journal is to others?
Please. It isn't. It depends on who you compare me to. Maybe a 2?

6. From who/how did you find out about lj?
[livejournal.com profile] fiatincantatum. And she gave me code. ^_^

7. Has anyone ever joined lj because of you?
No. I gave code to a friend, but she didn't join because of me.

8. What proportion of your posts are friends only?
About a third, I think. Not many, as I am usually rambling about writing. However, as more people find my story, and this journal because of it, I'm locking up personal posts much more often.

9. What is your favorite interest on lj?
HP. I'm not really in any other fandom.

10. Has anything on lj ever caused you to establish, rethink, or even change your belief or position on something?
Not exactly. Not rethink, but think about more clearly in order to write a more reasonable response. Usually to [livejournal.com profile] thalialuna about religion, [livejournal.com profile] epicyclical or [livejournal.com profile] vanityfair about writing or shipping or such, or [livejournal.com profile] alexmalfoy or [livejournal.com profile] johnwalton about politics.
Special note to fangirls: Alex has a very good brain floating around above those vinyl trousers. Pay more attention to it, and he might like you better.

11. How often do you respond/comment on other peoples journals?
I comment when someone says something worth commenting about, when I have something to say in response, be it thoughtful or snarky.
Special note to fangirls #2: Think before you speak. A pointless reply is infinitely worse than no reply at all.

12. Do you prefer to write in your journal, read other journals?
I like the exchange. I don't think I have ever posted something with comments disabled (though i did last week by mistake). So I like to write in my journal, and read other journals and reply to them. But I do a lot more reading and commenting than original posting.

13. Have you ever had something mean said to you or been stalked, harassed, or got into an argument/flame war on lj (or did it to someone else)?
Someone called me a bitch in their LJ once. That kinda sucked. I tried to make light of it, but it was really upsetting, especially since they were someone I thought was a friend or at least an acquaintance. Also, after I got upset with someone, they posted something I didn't appreciate, and a friend of mine got into a sort of proxy flame war with them. It was also very upsetting. I try to avoid that. I'm a lover, not a fighter.

14. Have you ever banned someone from your journal?
No.

15. Who are your favorite lj friend(s) and why?
I can't pick; it depends on my mood. All the people on my friends list are there because I think they're shibby. After the experience of Alex, Aja and Kissaki in having to clean out their friends lists because they got too unweildy (and others, who shall remain nameless, who found other solutions to this quandary) I decided not to even try to be reciprocal.

16. How many of your lj friends have you actually met?
Six? Seven? But that's not really fair, as many I met and then friended: Val, Ashley, Emily, Ali and Cassie. So of the people I knew online only, really only John and Alex. Though I'm looking forward to that Boston gathering so I can meet a few more!

17. Of all of the people on lj you know of, who is the most like you?
Well, [livejournal.com profile] ely709 is my twin, but I'm not sure how much we are just alike; it's more that we have the same thought at the same time.

18. Why are you most likely to add someone to your friends list?
You know, I just had a conversation about this the other day. I'm actually both very shy and paranoid about being a fangirl, so I don't add a lot of people to my list. Also, I like being able to lock a post to friends only instead of having 25 levels of friends. So, if I look at the people I've added, there's:
--I know them, usually from Fiction Alley
--They commented in my LJ and seemed really cool
--They friended me and they are really cool and I never would have gotten up the nerve to friend them. (This category created solely for Alex.)
--We cross-commented in someone else's LJ, or we had mutual LJ friends.
--We met in person (see above)
I don't really add people because their journal looks cool, as I am lame enough that I don't spend too much time in other people's journals. Also, I don't add people just because I like their writing. I'm very flattered when people add me for that reason, but I'm not forward enough to do that, I'm afraid. That isn't necessarily a good thing. It's probably better to be garrulous and friendly like John than shy and sort of timid like me.
However, I will say that I very much appreciate people saying who they are when they friend me; I hate looking at my "friend of" list and thinking, "who is that and how did they find me?"

19. Do you automatically add friends to your journal if they add you first?
Not always. (see above re reciprocity) I hate to say, "if they're cool, I'll add them" because that sounds snobby and obnoxious. I guess I would say, if they have something to say that I can relate to and would look forward to seeing on my friends page, then I will. I do use higher filters for some posts, but I don't like having to use a filter to view my friends page. So, it's more: do I want to read all of your posts?

20. What is the most likely reason you wouldn't add someone to your friends list?
If they don't seem to have anything interesting to say.

21. Is your "significant other" on lj?
wibble.

22. Have you ever wanted to meet someone on lj?
I want to meet everyone on my friends list. I have met some; I'll meet more in Boston, and more when the Muses watch CoS, and even more in Orlando (I hope). ^_^

"garrulous and friendly like John"

I'd say I have to agree with you on that one. The other day, he and I had an entire conversation about QasF...and he barely knows me!

And, yes. I do believe Alexmalfoy is very intelligent with what he has to say about Politics. I often find myself drawn to his journal just to read about his views on the world. Most of time, things he says just hit home and I finally realize/make sense of what's going on.

And, yep. You don't know me either! :)
