Haven't posted in a bit as my life has been a blur of mostly uninteresting things. I'm highly stressed, working too much and not sleeping enough and therefore rather emotional. I expect this to get slightly but not significantly better until the last week of May. I know no one really comments on lists of random crap but at the moment that's all I got.

  1. I saw the new Gap ad with Joss Stone. I continue to find her completely uninteresting. I know the boys think she's hot but I am seriously not seeing it. As for her voice, I find that she pretty much does the same thing with every song, and I'm not sure why they have her doing "soul" covers of all these non-soul songs. Why isn't she singing new songs? What is going on here?

  2. I'm so glad I'm only vaguely following AI this year. What a fucking mess. The good singers keep picking songs the kids won't know. The bad singers clearly have some kind of bizarre voodoo. And after all that, Simon gives us a boy band based on The Three Tenors? What the fuck is up with that?

  3. Why do I watch Making the Band 3 when all they do is shout at people? What is Diddy thinking, getting all these girls into a house when he knows that it isn't going to work out? Well, only one more week.

  4. HAHAHAHAH New Edition Behind the Music. Dionne did you see this shit? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH. What is better than a clearly high off his fucking arse Bobby Brown talking trash about NKOTB? HAHAHAHAHAHAH. It's sad that of course this is just part of their whole promotion for some new record.

  5. All I can say about Veronica Mars is, it's really fun being in on something from the ground floor. How different to be watching a TV show along with a whole bunch of folks on LJ! I know that many of you have already had this experience but I am having a grand old time. I'm also really proud of myself that I was right when I called CC right after watching the first episode and told her, "Cassie, I have found your new show."

  6. It almost makes up for this being the last year of Six Feet Under. Almost. However, I do think it's right to end it now, as I'm not sure where else this show can go. Not that it should have ended last year, as there are things that feel unfinished, but I think it's gone through its arc. Any longer and I think they'd just be making up drama.

  7. Know who I saw coming out of a trendy hip restaurant as I was walking in? Alton Brown, that's right. Hotter in person, fully.

  8. I need to see Sin City and Fever Pitch.

  9. Drove down to DE last weekend. Car sucked. Forgot how much I like driving. I'm loving the old Kings of Convenience and the new Garbage.

  10. I'm also loving [livejournal.com profile] seviet's polls.

I'm hoping by the weekend I'll have enough brain cells to say something more coherent.

My life has been incredibly uninteresting as well. *hugs* I will keep your sanity in my thoughts. <3

I would comment on AI and Making the Band 3, but I loathe all reality television. It kind of sucks cause I feel I have opted out of a good small talk topic.

I kind of wish I had gotten into VM. I like the IDEA of it. But, as I found with Smallville and Lost, I just cannot get into a TV show anymore. No matter how good it is, I just can't stand to watch TV really. And, it may be a lingering fear/disappoitment from the X Files...I don't know. But i really just think I am not into TV. how odd is that?

I like to drive as well. I briefly considered making the drive from Alabama to Salem, MA in October. Just kind of leisurely driving up a day or two before. But then I decided I don't like driving THAT much. :))

I'm telling you, that's because Smallville continues to trip the light sucktastic. It would be better if they would just let Lex sex up everybody in sight, but as long as they keep trying to write actual dialogue and plot and shit, it's not going to go well. I'm all thrown off by this "not into TV" thing, as I clearly remember your Smallville marathoning days. I can almost see it, though, since you somehow managed to survive this long without getting sucked into the Jossverse.

Also, more random drive-by love for Clio, because (a) this is her journal, after all; and (b) it's always so worth doing. ♥ I'm glad this phase of the crazy is over for you.

I can do spots of DVD marathoning, but as far as making a serious commitment to a show? Not gonna happen. I tried with both Lost and Smallville. I stuck it a few weeks, but then I just forgot/didn't want to watch.

I think it's just that I don't care to watch TV regularly. I have to be in the mood. So I'm bad at show commitment. hee!

I think maybe you just need a TiVo.

Also, not everyone needs to be watching a show. I haven't regularly watched a network show in so long I can't remember. It's funny, LJ can be so fandom-oriented, and when everyone is yammering about something one can feel sort of left out.

And I think it's much easier to follow a show when you have "show buddies" in RL. CC comes over every Tuesday for VM and then the second it's over we get online and talk to Rach. SFU will bring CC, Ali, Emily, and Sarah to my place this summer. That way TV becomes a social thing as well, instead of something that you do instead of being social.

I have TiVo....well, DVR from Charter. I just don't really like to watch TV.

I think I would like Veronica Mars, but I know what you mean about feeling left out when everyone and their mother watches a show. It obviously doesn't effect me too much though, or I would make an effort to watch it. :))

Thanks! It isn't; I think I miswrote that phrase. Things are going to be pretty hairy until May 23, and then mildly crazy until I leave. At least, I hope this is true, as not so good things are afoot that could make for trouble.

Actually, I was referring to the recent departure; for some reason I thought that would ease things up a little bit.

Damn, girl. Never a dull moment for you and work. Won't you miss it? ;D

After what went on yesterday, where I was blamed for something that went wrong and that I did my best to deal with and with which the head of our group dealt in the most humiliating way possible, no, I won't. In fact, I'm just going to tell them now that I'm going back to school. I don't have any fight left in me, and I think they may as well just take the easy solution and replace me on this account and find someplace for me to hang out and fill in until I'm done. I'm also hoping this doesn't mean that they'll fire me, as that would suck.

I forgot you liked him, or I would have discussed it in chat. He is definitely handsome in that craggy Sam Shephard sort of way. It was at Markt in the Meatpacking District. I didn't really think he was ever here, but he might be around for the Food Network upfront party. Unless of course they film Iron Chef here (which would make sense as all the Iron Chefs are based in NYC) which means he's here regularly, which is an exciting thought.

1. Perhaps she has all the creativity of a Cheerio.

2. I think it's time for Simon to discover the meaning of "point and laugh" from the other side.

4. That sounds as good as watching a doped-up, strung out James Brown talking to a spot on the wall and waving a Bible at random crew members. *makes note to watch*

5. Eventually I will catch an episode of that. I think. Maybe?

7. I do not see the hottness factor.

9. What kind of car was it?

11. *HUGS YOU* just 'cause.

7. He is handsome in a craggy, older, weathered, Sam Shephard sort of way. I feel that this is dimetrically opposite of your type.

9. It was a Chevy Cavalier that badly needed alignment as it pulled to the right quite badly. Also, the brakes were sticky, the gas was touchy, it had neither power doors nor power windows nor a tape player which meant no ipod and I had to run upstairs to get mix CDs. Next time we drive down, I'm getting a car much sooner.

11. HUG. I'm so glad you were around last night. I have to make some decisions, but it's so nice to have good friends who remind you, as my friend Jaime says, that this job doesn't define me.

7. I feel you are most definitely correct. I'm more of a girl for a hunter than a sage.

9. I didn't think rental agencies were allowed to keep clunkers. Shame on them.

11. My wet nailed pleasure. :D It can be hard to remember that you're an eagle when you're surrounded by turkeys.

Also, I've forgot which number it was, but let me know how the new Fever Pitch turns out. I quite enjoyed the first and while I'm not a Soxs fan, I love baseball and enjoy a good Barrymore flick.

I had no idea you were liking the Alton! I love his show, I love his mind, I love his sense of humor. And yeah, he is yummy, and I don't usually like blond men.

Perhaps I will make the icon tonight . . .

I am much with the Alton love. My parents watch him as religiously as they watch John Stewart, so whenever I was home for break I would get my fix.

1. Flipping channels today Joss Stone was on Punk'd. I think she's cute, but very very young.

2. I don't watch AI, but everyone in Cleveland won't stop talking about it.

5. I think I have some weird Veronica Mars curse. My whole friends list loves that show, but everytime I try to watch it something happens and I miss it.

8. Sin City was fantastic. I want to see the original Colin Firth Fever Pitch.

9. I'll trade you! I'm so sick of driving. And I have another 8 hour drive on Sunday...

See? You've already got 7 comments off of this!

I get the appeal of Joss Stone, but I'm going to get grouchier the more she is all over the damn place singing uninteresting "soul" music. I'd rather hear bad pop, to be honest.

For VM at this point you will need to wait for the DVDs and just watch it straight through. There's too much mystery built up, I think, to jump onto this train now.

I'd like to see the original Fever Pitch as well, but I also love them Sox so I really want to see this one.

Yeah, I'm sort of surprised that so many people came in and commented, to be honest. It's encouraging.

Lost and House are the only two shows I've ever really gotten into their first season. For the rest I borrow DVDs from my brothers and end up watching the whole season in a few days.

I'm not a big baseball fan (blasphemy from a Clevelander!) but I love Drew Barrymore, so I'm sure I'll see it soon.

Numbered lists are easier to respond to, I think, because you have specific points to address and can make more concise responses.

Are you really? Wow, look at all these people coming out of the woodwork. I had no idea!

He looked really good. I was a little surprised at how handsome he is in person. Handsomer than on telly as he has that whole craggy ruggedly handsome look, whereas on TV he looks like more of an aging hipster. That said, he was wearing a leather jacket and had a backpack on.

5. AGREED, even though good ol' australia probably won't figure to show it on real live television (!) for at least six months yet. i'm just years ahead of the pack, currently.
6. sad :(

You are lightyears ahead, as usual, m'darlin. And say, where's that theory post?

I'm feeling more bittersweet. It's sad, but I feel like they will end it in a really good way and I'm looking forward to seeing that, and then eventually having this nice set of DVDs of the whole series. Lovely.

:D!!! the theory post is actually in a journal i have created entirely for vmars babbling because i know i will just annoy the majority of my flist with it. :))!!

i've only been watching from the dvds anyway so at least i will just be able to pull out a season, any season, when i get angsty pangs. i think the word "bittersweet" is good here because it's always sad when good shows end, but you don't want them to keep going if they're going to turn into bad shows. :-?

I have to say, he was pretty fucking hot. If I hadn't been with clients, and if I hadn't been at this totally hip restaurant, I might have said something. Instead I gave him that NYC patented look of, "I know who you are, and I think you are cool, and I also am cool so I am not going to say anything." He just sort of stared at me as he walked by and then he started talking to his friend. It was cool.

Date: 2005-04-30 03:53 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] piperki.livejournal.com
Wait, is that a patented NYC look? Because it is the look I gave George Clooney when we were both having breakfast in the same coffee shop in Santa Monica.

Do I owe somebody royalties for the look?

Muahahahah.

Alton. I want him. Right next to the red and white square canisters, on the counter, directly below the arsenal of rolling pins. Not that I watch all the time or anything.

Watch. Oh god. I'd better go, you know, have a soothing cool drink.
