Snowed last night. Seems odd, as not only is it apparently snowing in London, but there was also a big snowstorm on President's Day last year--much, much bigger than this year and would have shut more of the city down had it not been a holiday. I remember that at the time my group didn't take the day off (our client isn't closed on President's Day) so I waddled into work to send home whomever was interpid enough to come in. You know it's bad when there are cabs abandoned in the middle of 8th Avenue in midtown. My general rule is to never take a cab in the snow because most cab drivers come from tropical climes—not exactly experienced in driving in snow, you know? However, the storm has wrecked my plans to see the gates in central park today as walking through the park would be a wet slushy mess. Ah well, there's always next weekend.

I have decided to organize my itunes/ipod today and get rid of some magazines in the house. Currently I am ripping the lovely mix Emily gave me and watching my favorite ridiculous show, Location, Location, Location. Possibly I have offloaded all of my "I can't really be an adult since I don't own my residence" anxiety onto an obsession with UK real estate. Clearly I need that damn DVR as BBC America has decided to put it on at 11:30am on Mondays. I love holiday weekends, and last week I saw it on my Jet Blue flight back from Miami. Good times, good times.

Smut's at the betas. I sent it to [livejournal.com profile] evil_erato and her comment was: "I find it very amusing that I already knew what scene you would use from The Pearl to base Lily's fantasy off of." We are so kindred spirits!

The Pearl was the first porn I ever read (as looking at dad's Playboys don't count as reading), and certain parts are destined to be in my head forever. :)) That lurid pink cover will always give fond memories... ;)

"I can't really be an adult since I don't own my residence"

God, though, how many people our age actually do own their residences? Wells Fargo owns my house - Marc and I just own the debt. It's difficult for me to see the accrual of that much debt as much of an accomplishment. :)) Have not seen L,L,L though - sounds interesting.

I've given the smut a oncethrough and am giving myself a cooling off period. :D It is certainly very effective in that regard. I'll give it another look through this afternoon for more productive purposes.

Thanks!

L,L,L is probably not actually interesting; I'm just obsessed with it. It's a half hour show where two real estate agent-hosts take on a different person each week who hasn't had luck finding a house or flat to purchase. So you see about 4-5 properties per show: "Today we're in York trying to find a 2-bedroom house with old fashioned charm not too far from the High Street with a nice garden." And then at the end they usually put in an offer on one of the properties. They end up successful about 50% of the time, but even when they aren't the buyers are often helped by seeing what really is out there and have bought something else a few weeks later.

Well, I mean, a mortgage, I wasn't counting that. But most of the people I know have purchased their flat or house. I might have purchased a year or so ago but I knew I wanted to go back to school and wouldn't be able to swing a mortgage, so I hung on to my rent-controlled flat.
