Shop. Cook. Eat. Clean. Repeat.
Jan. 16th, 2005 01:19 pmSo I've been working a lot and being relatively social this week, and have only been around for like, an hour before I go to bed at night. Yesterday, I suppose LJ being down did affect me as I was home for the afternoon and evening, but the morning was very busy. I met
calloocallay for breakfast (at 9am!) and we shopped a bit before she went on her way and I concentrated on getting some new shoes. I now have some brown leather flats with an olive quilted insert, black ballet-ish flats, red mary jane-ish flats, and black and silver sneakers. I found my brown and blue sneakers of destiny at Banana but alas, they only came in men's sizes. I poked around for shirts for C's Christmas present but didn't find anything I liked. I also purchased a top at Filene's Basement, some candles, lilac-scented bath products at the Body Shop, and a frame for a print
blackholly gave me for Giftmas. And all before 2pm!
However, I visited the new DSW in Manhattan and ugh. CC and Ruby had said that there wasn't much good there but it wasn't only that; it was also that the prices were pretty lousy. There should be no $45 shoes at DSW, never mind $300! Also, the shoe news for fall is round toed flats but you wouldn't know it from the rows and rows of pointy-toed pumps both there and at Nine West. The shoes were cheaper onsale at Sketchers. I mean, really!
Due to the purchase of red flats I came home ready to find some red stockings and found that there is a conspiracy to make no red tights in plus sizes, which is clearly very annoying. I finally did find them but only after a good hour and a half or so of searching. I also found, per CC's suggestion, some reasonably-priced violet-scented bath products. During this mad search I watched a great deal of figure skating helped by the expert commentary of the irrepressible
aegeus, discussed cheesiness and stockings with
weatherby, and food television with
ladyjaida. So really, it wasn't that bad.
And now I am going go get some groceries and a few other things and then cook. It's supposed to snow today and I feel all cozy and domestic and want there to be nice smells of nice things cooking. Dude, I need to grab the motivation by the ears when it comes, I tell you what.

Date: 2005-01-16 06:56 pm (UTC)I'm something of a stockings aficianado and I love them with fun designs and colors, but the only place I've ever found great ones was in Japan, and I barely fit into the "one size fits all" that is generally sold there.. crazy skinny Japanese girls.
