Today I'm thankful for movies. Some of my most cherished childhood memories center around movies. I love the visual language, they way they are put together, the way seeing a film reminds me of seeing it for the first time and many times since then. When you share a film with someone, you often can truly share it with them by watching it at the same time, which is brilliant. Film is this communal yet solitary experience—"All you lovely people alone out there in the dark"—and it can tell us so much about ourselves, even if it doesn't seem to. So different than television, which is usually an ongoing narrative, a movie is a story complete in 90-180 minutes. And when it's good, you can't stop talking about it!
