Wednesday I headed off to [livejournal.com profile] msscribe's, and had a nice evening of steak and margaritas and Myth Busters with her and her husband and daughter, whom I always look forward to seeing. Next morning we headed out to pick up [livejournal.com profile] hermorrine at the airport, listening to Jill Scott and Tori Amos and Stevie Nicks along the way. Thanksgiving at her parents' house was as much fun as Easter had been, and it was nice to see her family again and be remembered.

Friday [livejournal.com profile] weatherby and [livejournal.com profile] epicyclical and [livejournal.com profile] tromboneborges came by and we played 90s Trivial Pursuit (yes, Bob Hope is still alive). Before you say it, I recall the 80s edition coming out even sooner, as we had it in our room in college and I was graduated in '91, so all things considered they showed comparative restraint. The 90s is harder than the 80s, but like the 80s it has really silly categories like "Oops". I surprised myself with how much tech I knew. All the sports questions were about golf.

Saturday we mostly hung about and chilled, then Rach took CC and I to the station to catch the cheap slow train home. Though, on the way to Josh's parent's house to pick up CC, we had quite a scare when the mattress and box spring riding atop a van ahead of us on the highway suddenly blew off. The box spring set off scary sparks when it skidded across the blacktop, and I thought for a moment that the mattress was going to land smack on our windshield, but we were lucky and most importantly, Rach stayed calm and steady throughout. It happened so fast we didn't really get freaked out about it until after, actually, and were rather wide-eyed when we arrived at Josh's.

I finally finished a project I'd been working on for a while (and which really should have been finished last weekend) and now I'm making a little plotty post for some people who are going to help me with my EWFS sequel. Of course, now I'm all freaked out as I will never finish this before June. Is it selfish of me to hope those rumors are just rumors? Though, as was said by some others this weekend, I don't feel ready for new canon. That isn't to say that I'll be rereading OotP before HBP comes out; I don't think I'll be rereading it until after I've read book seven. Knowing where we are all heading should help me get through the darkness.

I meant to start this before I left so I have made some backdated entries specific to Wednesday, Friday and yesterday and edited Thursday's entry. Today, I'm thankful for music, for the songwriters I love like George and Ira Gershwin and Horace Silver and John Lennon and Paul McCartney and Joni Mitchell and Kate Bush and Neil Finn (who is in my icon) and so many more that I can't list them all here. I'm also thankful that I have an ear and a voice so I can appreciate it and discuss it and sometimes even create it for myself.

Dude, it was total insanity. And all we did was gasp, strangely, even though it looked like it was either about to catch fire or squash my windshield like a bug.

You were awesome. I didn't even think of it squashing the windshield, but more that it would land on the car and you wouldn't be able to see.

I also thought it might land on its side and I'd have to drive through it somehow.

And, yay, plotty post!

I'm so glad you guys all had fun (and that you did not meet your tragic ends at the hand of a box spring on the highway!)! Jo and Cyg and I thought of everyone when we were meeting up in Indy, and there was much good-vibe sending across the way. :)
