Premiere Part 1
May. 23rd, 2004 11:53 pmBefore I start this, I just want to digress for a second as OMG, the sock puppets in my icon, Sifl & Olly, were back on air last night on MTV2! Eeeee!
Confession: I'm not a very good star fucker. There are almost no famous people I really want to meet or see that closely. So a lot of the appeal for me of going to the premiere was getting to see the movie now, and not having to wait. But this bit isn't about the film; it's about being at the premiere.
So since I didn't really care about seeing too many famous faces, I stood in line (with Ali, Anna, Holly and Ruby) and filed into Radio City and sat down in my seat, which was amazingly in the third row. They were feeding into the theater footage from the red carpet outside, which was great because then it was like being inside and outside at the same time, and since inside was nicely air conditioned and outside was hot and hellish, that was a great thing. Some impressions:
and of course,
ALFONSO RULZ ME!

- Is it 1975 and someone didn't tell me? Is everyone in England reviving the shag haircut or something? The hair was so long on these kids! What is up with that?
- Dan Radcliffe looks like a very frightened, small bird who badly needs to breathe into a paper bag. He's handsome enough, sure, but he's also tiny, and on the red carpet he was shaking and breathing as though he'd been fucked by the MTA and run all the way to Radio City from the East Village or something. I really think he personifies that cliché of "the camera loves them"; faced with thousands of screaming teenagers, he just seems freaked out. Which I suppose is better than, "That's right, I'm the man."
- Tom Felton, on the other hand, has the strut and the smirk and the posing for the red carpet cameras and the answering dumb questions from entertainment journalists thing down pat. He looks better in his own short hair, and the bad skin really just adds to the bit of a dorky affect he has.
- Either the untucked shirt is Devon Murray's own fashion statement or he's decided to take it up. He walked down the red carpet with Bonnie Wright and they were very cute and tiny and made me think of Cassie's fic,. And okay, when I walked out of the theater he was right next to me. But it was still a very, "aww, oo's an ickle snoo den?" moment. For spoilery reasons, I have forgiven the casting, and am now willing to embrace movie!Seamus, even if he doesn't have sandy hair. (I think it's rather big of me, really.)
- I find Robbie Coltrane infinitely more interesting than Hagrid.
- Alan Rickman. Yes, indeed.
- Didn't everyone have a dress like Emma's at some point? Anyway, I don't have a lot to say about her on the red carpet. She seems very self possessed and all that and I'm hoping she'll emerge relatively unscathed and not too snooty.
- My god, Rupert's become quite the little rock star, hasn't he? The girls seem to think so. I wish he'd cut his fringe, but I really liked his dressed down outfit. He just seemed very cool and natural.
- The only non-HP star that anyone in the audience cared about was . . . LL Cool J, of course, who had to sign tons of autographs once he got inside the theater. There were loads of other people there, blah blah blah, but no one cared, which I found pretty interesting.
and of course,
