jlhSo that opening was a little too cutesy, I thought, though I always like seeing Ryan in shadow. The ad was pretty much ass, though it made me fag/hag ship Adam/Allison even more than I did before.
I guess I got my wish for "Maniac"! I loved Kris's weirdo little dance move on the stairs, and singing to Kara, and Allison forcing Simon to watch her; and Anoop was great; and then MATT, omg he was great! And then Adam was his awesome Adam self and Danny was his out-of-place Danny self, and Lil did her Lil thing, and then MATT was awesome again and did a little spin, adorable!
Jennifer Hudson was pre-taped and not obviously so. She sounded and looked fantastic. I adore her. (Okay, shippishly, I wanted to see Ryan or Simon put their hands up because they have love. I'll admit that.) I also adore that Ryan kept it to engagement/wedding talk and she was like, "if I whisper it, it will be on your mic Ryan." They were so cute!
Miley was pretaped and totally obviously so—coming out of that was pretty rough, producers. I don't know why she was wearing an evening dress or why most of her hair was in her face, but I watched it with a devoted Radio Disney listener (yes, she is in the demo) and she liked the performance.
And with Nigel gone, for the first time since Jennifer Hudson's elimination—she went out in the week of 7—we didn't have that two groups of three with one person having to choose group-of-seven elimination. And I'm glad, because we did that five times and that was enough, and also, I wouldn't want to see Danny try to fake his way out of it, Kris or Allison be sad about it, or Adam refuse to play along.
I'm glad Simon clarified that Rocky Horror wasn't an insult—I don't think he meant it as one, but rather, wanted to point out that some people would mean it as one. I'm also glad that he was able to tell Kris how brilliant he was—because he totally was! Yay that Anoop got relieved first, too. Interesting, btw, how completely dialidol can't judge what's going on. The folks at Idolator think it's because they can't account for texting, which is probably a lot of Kris's vote and not a lot of Danny's.
I think Simon was always thinking that he would save Matt, but worded it so we wouldn't know that—Lil is so dead to him now. Matt sounded great (I'm not sure why Simon needed to bring him down a little) and I was so happy they saved him. It really was the perfect time.
So, disco next week. I'm thinking:

- Anoop will totally overdo it with some "ironic" Stayin' Alive bullshit.
- Danny will be totally lost, and it will be a marker of how he's going to do in later weeks if he can work his way through it.
- Lil will be a righteous diva if she can get out of her own way.
- Matt should be fine, given how well he did with Maniac this week and the Kylie song last week.
- Adam will be amazing and hilarious as usual.
- Kris and Allison could be in trouble if they don't find the right songs.
