HIMYM, Twitter
Nov. 19th, 2008 04:28 pmI really loved the explanation of the woo-girl, and that Ted is pretty much one. I look forward to Ted and Robin building a more solid friendship, rather than a friendly ex-ship, out of their romantic failures and current confusion. I liked the brief moment of Barney checking out Robin's ass. I also liked Barney acting like a selfish ass in the moment even when he meant to be a good friend. There was a lot of character building in this episode, I felt, rather than the plot tying-up that had been going on in previous weeks.
So I'm reading a whole bunch of Twitter how-to's and finding them completely unhelpful, unless I know the person and can actually get into a conversation with them. I'm glad that in talking to
flourish I remembered my previous experience with cell phones—I got one rather late, and the end benefit I noticed first wasn't the one my friends were telling me about. I think I'm just going to blunder along until I find a way of dealing with it that works for me, and apologize to everyone in advance for being no fun to follow. I find myself being incredibly intimidated by the short length, like Twitter is ADD Theater and I'm the laggard still thinking about the TV show I saw two days ago.
I mean, is there anything more embarassing than mentioning something to a friend and having them say "Oh my goodness, you're still thinking about that? I'm so over it!" It's like people calling you tl;dr, or saying that you're too spammy or that you've pinged their obscure grammar pet peeve. (Someone was bitching a few weeks ago in a group chat about some grammar pet peeve that I had never even heard of and had to have explained to me and that knowing me I probably do all the time.) I don't want to be "that guy" who posts endless frequent crappy entries with bad punctuation.
