how gawker is saving clio's sanity
Sep. 17th, 2008 12:27 pmSo as often happens at freelance jobs, I'm a little underutilized. Yet, I don't want to be writing all the time, so I've taken to reading various Gawker blogs. For those of you who don't know, Gawker Media runs several blogs, all of which are on LJ as a feed, each on a different groovy topic. (I'd recommend putting them into their own filter if you do feed them, as they each post about 20x a day, which is only a little spammy for a group professional blog.) I'd stopped a few years ago because Gawker itself seemed to be getting a little too petty and Defamer a little too pointless, but they seem to have gotten themselves back on track.
Anyway, what these sites have done lately is help save my sanity especially regarding the current Democratic freak out and the banking crisis. Plus, Gawker has expanded into new areas--I highly recommend Jezebel which aims to be a feminist women's magazine, and succeeds far more often than it fails. I'm also digging Wonkette (politics), Defamer (Hollywood), Gawker (NY Media), and Idolator (music).
bhanesidhe likes io9 (SciFi, etc) and there are also blogs for gaming, sports, gadgets, porn, consumer products, the tech industry, cars, and some sort of software/time saving thing I don't really understand.
Expect links.
ETA: Also saving my sanity is my new Pandora station based on Air. It keeps me very zen, as you see.
