Furuba drabble!

Man, I'm grouchy. My phone got busted this weekend so I ran out to get a new one--just a little cheapy, I don't need anything fancy. Well, I left it in a fucking cab last night. I guess I'll just have to get another cheapy when I get back home later today. It could have been worse; I could have lost my ID or my wallet, and lots of people just gave me their numbers again so there wasn't much in that phone to be lost. But still, annoying.

Speaking of annoying, is there a reason that people have to manufacture wank where there is none? No wonder we can't have a civilized discussion around here any more; two friends have a polite and respectful debate and suddenly there is side-taking and general silliness. Please, people.

I read the rest of Fruits Basket Vol 7 last night and this morning. Uo-chan reminds me of [livejournal.com profile] bhanesidhe especially now that I've read all that groovy backstory. Val is, of course, fucking awesome. But I owe [livejournal.com profile] tea_and_toast some drabble:
He resented that she wore so much clothing. Not that he didn't fetishize the small amount of flesh he could see; the arm warmers were particularly fetching as they framed her upper arm and shoulder, so. But talking to her about the book she was reading, or hearing one of those sly comments sure to infuriate the boys, made it nearly impossible to reassure himself that Hanajima was just another object of his schoolgirl lust.

Then again, he had become a master at self-deception over the years. The great novelist Shigure would not back down from such a challenge!
It's 99 words, not 100. However this is my journal and not a drabble comm so I don't suppose I can really get flamed here for being a word short.

Man, no new Veronica Mars last night. What a week.

Is it dyed? Because there are so many manga characters that don't have black hair and I never know what they're trying to say with that. I love them both dearly. Emily was saying just yesterday that she doesn't like plots where the romantic heroine wanders off after the hero and it's presumed that she wasn't really abandoning anything as she had no friends. I love that Tohru has friends who are looking after her and who also knew her mother. She lives with all those men so it's good for her to have real girlfriends. I also love that they're such misfits. I'm way down with the misfit love, clearly.

Dude, if you actually illustrated your story, you would win the Pulitzer and the National Book Award and like 27 million other things because it would be amazing. You just won't be able to do it until you're like, 50, I reckon. Perspective and all that, yeah?
