First, THANK YOU. I think of Yuletide as more of an opportunity to write something a little different than request something to exacting specifications, so whatever you write is more like a totally awesome bonus than the entire reason I'm participating. In other words, NO PRESSURE. This, and my comments on the assignment, are really just suggestions in case you'd like some.

When I say "no heavy kink" I mean, well, there's been an increasing amount of watersports fic in YT over the past few seasons and I am super not into that at all. Nor am I particularly fond of long BDSM contract negotiations or scenes, especially as I haven’t requested any established relationship.

The most important thing really is no deathfic and I prefer a happy ending. I don't mind working for the happy ending; angst that ends well is splendid. Downer endings, though, kinda bum me out. I'm not a freak about plot—in many of the stories I love nothing really happens except maybe an internal change in a character or an emotional realization. Characters are always more important to me than plot and I adore great conversation. So feel free to have them just sitting around drinking coffee and talking about great Heart songs, or have them find a way to Save the World from Certain Destruction, or anything in between! I've asked for women or pairs of women, but while femslash is welcome it isn't expected and certainly not required.

If you want more of a sense of the sort of stories I adore, since Yuletide is its own animal, you can check out the Yuletide stories I've bookmarked and also the ones that I've received (anything here that was posted in December) as well as my Yuletide recs posts.

But as always you should feel free to do what you like!

( fountains, maybe )

Mostly, thank you in advance; I know that anything you do will be awesome, because it will mean more fic for one of these fandoms, and isn't that the whole point?

comments

First, THANK YOU. I think of Yuletide as more of an opportunity to write something a little different than request something to exacting specifications, so whatever you write is more like a totally awesome bonus than the entire reason I'm participating. In other words, NO PRESSURE. This, and my comments on the assignment, are really just suggestions in case you'd like some.

If you want more of a sense of the sort of stories I adore, since Yuletide is its own animal, you can check out the Yuletide stories I've bookmarked and also the ones that I've received (anything here that was posted in December).

This year I wrote quite a bit in the optional details so I don't have more to add—honestly you should feel free to do what you like!

( Metropolitan, Vertigo, Ghostbusters and Carol )

Mostly, thank you in advance; I know that anything you do will be awesome, because it will mean more fic for one of these fandoms, and isn't that the whole point?

comments

FINISHED AND POSTED:

The Maternal Instincts of Betas, the Scott/Allison story in the a/b/o 'verse, which finishes out that 'verse nicely!

Your Soul on a Plate, a Scott/Allison Top Chef AU

Quadratic Functions, a sexy continuation of the TW College OT4

Working on:

Lydia/Erica short futurefic for the dancing-and-hiking series, for TW femslash week in early August

marvel_bang: AU with all the ladies, building on some hipster AU snippets I wrote a while back. 10,000-word draft due 27 Aug; final due 15 Oct; posting starts 18 Oct.

teenwolf_bb: Scott/Allison 1970s LA musicians AU. 15,000-word draft due 17 Sept; final due 16 Nov; posting starts 1 Dec.

Future:

TW hipsters? I'm not sure if this is getting written but if it is, it's moving to Brooklyn, and it's going to be more vignette-like. Possibly just, a series of parties/meals. One reason I kept putting it off is that I couldn't work out a plot, so I might just let it … not have one.

I've recently considered writing a Scott/Allison standalone in the Little House 'verse. Prequel, I think.

Maybe Derek and Lydia scenes from the college OT4? (Why do I do this? When will I learn that I have a pathological need to represent all sides of a romance in my stories?)

Lydia/Erica indie porn (short)

STBB doesn't seem to be happening this year, so I'm shelving the Spock/Uhura Liza-with-a-Z AU

HP Seamus/Dean rest of my ff100 claim: 55 left but drabbles count and I do have a few longer fics that have been floating around my mind for a while.

I had a bit of a writer's block this spring, alas! The college OT4 was originally planned for Multiamory March but I'm not sure that event happened. I was also hoping to have April be Allison Argent month, but the Scott-is-a-beta fic just kept growing. And despite deciding to write another longish TW fic, I'm still feeling like I'm wrapping things up in that fandom. I'm glad that I'm writing some Scott/Allison for TWBB, though, since I've already written Stiles/Derek and Lydia/Erica in previous years. Anyone who follows my writing knows I like to feel balance-y, and with Betas and the Top Chef fic and this and the possible LIttle House fic I'll be catching Scott and Allison up to something closer to what I've produced for Lydia/Erica and Stiles/Derek.

I'm excited that I'm going to be writing Marvel again! Last summer getting just a dose of Pepper felt unfinished, and I'm glad I waited because I got not only the Natasha I needed but also Jane, Darcy, Sif, Melinda, Skye, Jemma and a little Peggy. The MBB fic will be setting up a universe in which they'll all appear but it will probably take a LOT more fics than that to get all their stories told. The idea of setting up a long, wide-ranging, multi-story AU told entirely from female POVs has me pretty excited, I'm not going to lie.

comments

Then he met Allison, and it wasn't just his love life that changed, but his whole future.
Warning: (skip) A/B/O verse. Mentions of past and future mpreg.
Length: 18,000 words
Notes: Like rest of this mini-verse, this is grade-A Romantic Fantasy Sugar that presents instinctive mating-for-life at seventeen (or so) as entirely unproblematic. There's a lot of overt mutual consent going on, but I know some people feel that mating as a concept is always already dub-con, so note that this really is an omegaverse story, including preset roles from birth, a biological imperative for mating (heat or rut) and biological differences between alphas and omegas, and all of those are present in the story as well as the mating-for-life and the tentacle-like ovipositor. There isn't any actual mpreg on the page, but there are mentions of past mpreg (the sheriff) and future mpreg (Scott and Stiles). And as will become clear in this story, betas in this mini-verse aren't just "regular" humans, but a blend of intersex and pansexual, and there are fewer of them than alphas and omegas.
Thank you pinetreekate for the incredible beta and for holding my hand when I realized this story was going to be much longer and more involved than I had anticpated.
This is the final story in the Claiming is Confusing 'verse, and closing the 'verse is bittersweet, like all endings. Thanks to the mods at the a/b/o ladies challenge for giving me a place to think about omegaverse femslash, which led to everything else; to the the Wincon'12 femslash panel for the idea of the ovipositor for alpha and beta females being tentacle-like; to Kaister for commenting in the Derek story that I should write one about Scott and Allison; to all of you who offered help and support along the way; and to everyone who has read the stories in this 'verse. The response has been amazing, and I can't tell you how much I appreciate it.

Dreamwidth | Archive of Our Own

comments

Mostly I'm picking up a TON of sitcoms and giving them 6-7 episodes to show me if they're worth it. But I'm also grabbing a few other things here and there, like How to Get Away with Murder and that Debra Messing procedural and that hip hop soap Empire. Oh and there's some kind of weird musical thing that might be good? Plus Agent Carter of course. I'm still pretty much out on dramas and if any of these shows get annoying I will DROP THEM because life is too damn short to watch TV shows you don't like.

Over the summer I've got a lot of catching up to do on some things I missed, like Bob's Burgers and the first seasons of Parks & Rec and Broad City and the second season of Miss Fisher's Mysteries and maybe Portlandia and Key & Peele if I can find them. Plus Masters of Sex starts in mid-July.

comments

Tons of shows end disappointingly (hello BSG and Lost) or have issues (every show and also hello Teen Wolf) so not watching HIMYM really doesn't make anyone a better person.

( How I Met Your Mother )

( Justified )

( Suits )

But I just don't want to watch those kinds of shows anymore. By which I mean, things keep happening on dramas because things need to keep happening, not because they come out of anything that makes any sense. It's this constant need to roll forward and never leave anything resolved, endless fake resolutions with no real ones, and I don't find it engaging; I find it exhausting. I like endings. I like feeling that the story is over. Which is probably why I'm willing to stick it out with Justified and White Collar, both of which will end with their next seasons.

Comedies are different; the stakes are low and the ongoing stories are light and relatively ridiculous. But dramas, I don't know. Being out on dramas in many ways means being out on fandom, which is weird? But I might be out on dramas.

comments

I know, what? But I have stuff to say and I've decided to say it. I'd made this tumblr post with a big list of TV shows on my DVR back in January and now I'm knocking them off one by one. There are a bunch of shows that are ending, or soon to be ending, or I'm walking away from, this spring and I thought hey, maybe I would make a few posts here about how I'm feeling about them.

Except Teen Wolf. All I have to say about Teen Wolf is that I banked season 3B on my DVR for self-spoiled binge-watching, and now I'm probably not going to watch very much of it, and I'm out on the show moving forward. Still writing fic, still reblogging ridiculousness on tumblr, but not watching the show.

( Spoils of Babylon )

( White Collar )

( Suburgatory )

Top Chef was annoying at the end, wasn't it?
some HP fic tables

I think I needed a little mindless occupational-type therapy the other day and I was excited about finally finishing that final Parvati/Pansy story. So I made my HP fic into a bunch of tables. These are likely of interest only to me, but eh, it's my journal.

I'd wanted to bring Parvati/Pansy up to the equal number of stories as Harry/Hermione and Draco/Ginny, and I've always liked taking different ships and writing similar themes for them to see how it changes. Here's a chart showing the 12 stories I wrote for each of these ships as well as Seamus/Dean (more on them later):

( HP major ships fic table )

There were a few "leftover" fics for the ships I've written a little less of, so I put those into a chart, too. Lily doesn't quite fit, but it isn't entirely a mess, though this does make me want to write a schmoop bingo for Lily/James even though I blacked out my card long ago. Oh, organization!

( HP minor ships fic table )

And then finally, what I still have to write for HP: finishing my fanfic100 Seamus/Dean claim. I think the comm is dead, and the person who was sort of acting as owner kicked a bunch of people off and then wandered off, weirdly, so I'm not exactly official anymore but whatever, I'm still doing the challenge. SO THERE! Chapters count, as do drabbles. I have 55 left of the challenge. The orange are squares I'm not sure about yet; the purple is for stories I've written but not yet posted; the green is for prompts I'm planning drabble series for. This chart will migrate to the WIP post later.

( Seamus Dean ff100 table )

Tables!

comments

This means all the femslash I was planning for HP is complete, and that everything on the list above, with the exception of the S/D, was conceived of no earlier than last year. Now I just need to finish up the Seamus/Dean claim and thanks to the tag on tumblr I've been feeling quite Seamus/Dean'ish of late!

Planned OT4 college AU ficlets will do well for Multiamory March (if that's still happening?) so that's got next. Also I think April will be Allison Argent month in these parts and my goal is to get those two Scott/Allison fics posted then. After that it's long stuff and some TW cleanup.

It's good. I'm feeling very finish-y.
