This (http://witches.monstrous.com/the_salem_witch_trial.htm) has a good explanation, but mostly, Salem Town and Salem Village (which later became Danvers) had a lot of conflicts because Salem Village was still very rural and poorer while Salem Town was almost as big as Boston. If you look at the accusers and the accused, you can see the class conflict.
