That's right, I have FINISHED my blackout of my

I am not finishing all this Teen Wolf before the season starts but since it's all AUs I don't really mind. Also my fellow Erica and Lydia/Erica fans have encouraged me to keep writing them even though Erica won't be on the show, so, onwards!

Little House AU continues apace! The draft is about 17,000 words and a little less than half done I think? I can't quite tell. It's a lot bigger than I thought it would be, and is proving to be the usual Clio multiship ensemble nonsense. Needs to get done in the next couple of weeks or it's going to get pushed way back.
Lydia/Erica coda to my TWBB will hopefully be fairly short!
Scott/Allison beta story in the a/b/o 'verse should be about 9000 words. Late May?
Original story that's based on fic, sort of? It's hard to explain, but due end of June.

With the posting of the Inception story, I've now finally finished that entire giant backlog of stories that had been floating around my brain for literally YEARS: the HP sequel that I'd thought about back in '05, the Chapel/Rand Radcliffe story that I conceived of back when I wrote the Kirk/McCoy Harvard story in fall '09, this Inception story that I came up with around the end of '10. Now I'm writing stories very close to when I think of them, and my list is SO MUCH SHORTER you guys. It's really exciting to be able to react this quickly, though I'm probably always going to be the kind of writer who thinks about things for a while before I put pen to paper.

Deadline: none!!! Maybe, May 17, since that's when Star Trek comes out and will likely completely overwhelm my life? Or mid-June, when kink bingo amnesty ends. After all those big bangs in 2012 it's nice to move at my own pace.

But then billionaire philanthropist Robert Fischer swoops in and seemingly sweeps Ariadne off her feet. Is Ariadne actually underwhelmed by Robert's life of glamour, as Mal suspects? Can Arthur and Eames get Yusuf to declare himself to Ariadne through his food? And what does Danny Ocean's crew have to do with any of this?

Basically I think my problem is that I crave all this balance when I'm writing fic. I write a scenario for one ship, I want to try it out for a bunch more. It's like some sort of weird urge that gets me back into these places where I have these long lists of stuff I want to write—which for now is making Derek/Stiles and Lydia/Erica into this massive mirror of each other.

The Ships We Sail, an independently published anthology of stories available for the digital reader of your choice for $3! For which I wrote a story!

It occurred to us one bourbon-seasoned afternoon in March that Kissing and Adventure make really excellent partners—you know, in stories. And we thought to ourselves how grand it would be to assemble an anthology of fiction dedicated to making that case.

So the title "The Ships We Sail" is a "we're on a boat, pun intended" kind of situation, but there are lots of different kinds of boats, like space ships and air ships and gambling ships, and there's also lots of different kinds of kissing, which I'll leave to you to discover. So if you like lots of different kinds of things, you will find this is a thing that you like.

Seven stories, all super fantastic, by great writers like

sistermagpie and

ali_wildgoose. At the above link you can read story excerpts, buy from Amazon or Apple or direct from the publisher, and then you can guess which story is mine! Also you'll be supporting independent publishing, which is a truly awesome thing.

David Simon, creator of The Wire (among other things) made a blog post yesterday that's making the rounds today. You might recognize the money quote: "Change is a motherfucker when you run from it." Which is a true thing. But I'd recommend reading the post in full, as Simon's main point is about the ways that the changing demographics in the US are shifting the relative power of voting coalitions that have been in place since 1980. (By the way, I could EASILY put on my historian's hat and go on at length about the shifting voting coalitions that make up the bases of American political parties; it's my favorite thing about political history by far, and if anyone wants me to I will, but not here.)

To boil down post of thoughts about this week's election and what we need to do next, they are:

Please vote in the midterm elections and all local off-year elections
Your politics must be intersectional or they will be bullshit.
